Wilco Play Surprise Short Set for 70 People in NYC

The show was @ Piano’s during Tinkle, which is the somewhat regular David Cross comedy show he hosts there.

Last year Kiesha and I saw Ted Leo play at a Tinkle show, and that show was filmed for the Ted Leo DVD…. and yes, you can see us on that DVD for about 4 seconds.

The Wrens, Enon, Ida, Of Montreal at 2005 SXSW

The Kork Agency is one of the big booking agents around, with a really great diverse list of bands. On their tours page, they’ve got a lot of bands listed as playing the SXSW 05 Music Festival. Check it:

Enon 3/16 (Emo’s)
Ida (TBA)
Of Montreal (TBA)
The Wrens 3/16 (Emo’s)

Texas brings WiFi to rest stops

I could have used this at the 2004 festival while we made that long, nonstop 20 hour drive from Columbus Ohio to Austin TX.

We?re tempted to make some lame joke having to do with cowboys, laptops and horses (or some bad pun like ?WiFi Noon?), but we have to admit we?re a little impressed that the Texas Department of Transportation is bringing WiFi to 102 highway rest stops across the state. (more)

One Last Vote

If you’ve liked the podcasts we’ve done so far, please be a chum and vote for our podcast on Podcast Alley.

If we get a good amount of votes, and a lot of people voting, it will expose our show to more and more people.

It’d make my mom happy, at least.

CNN’s best music compilations

CNN has a great list of the best compilations. One of my favorites, Echo & The Bunnymen, tops the list. Click here for the list.

There’s a lot of good recommendations. Spend that Christmas dough!

So This is The New Year

No indie rock New Year’s Eve party is complete without playing Death Cab For Cutie’s “The New Year” at least twice. Mp3 download here.

Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund

I just put an ad up on donewaiting for information on how you can help with the Tsunami relief. I just read 80,000 are dead. I can’t even wrap my brain around this disaster.

Information can be found here on Google.

Amazon makes it real easy to donate to the Red Cross. I sent a donation in ten seconds, seriously.

[props to Arjan for setting the ad up]

Moviola Will Be There

In the latest newsletter from Moviola, they wrote that they’ve accepted an invitation to play at the 2005 festival.

Moviola is one of my favorite Columbus bands, so you fine festival goers are in for a treat.

Want to Redesign Donewaiting.com for Us?

I love the donewaiting.com design, but we’re in need for a refresh. If you’ve got the visual skills to help us out, let’s talk. Clint Reno is working on a new logo, and my pal Mike is up to the HTMLing challenge. What we really need is to have someone help us reorganize the content and throw a can of fresh paint on the ol’ battleship while utilizing CSS and those fancy resizing capabilities we just don’t have going on.

I won’t be able to pay you anything, but it might be nice for your resume or peace of mind. Or give you free advertising on the site. If interested, drop me an email at duffy@donewaiting.com.
