I’m heading up to Cleveland tonight for the Springsteen/REM/Bright Eyes Vote for Change tour. I can’t wait. I saw Springsteen and company a few years back in NJ at Continental Airlines Arena. It was the first show he played with the E Street Band after his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction. It was an amazing night, and I’m thinking tonight’s gonna be great too.
Details from the first show on the tour in Philadelphia:
Bruce and the E Street Band kicked off their contribution to the Vote For Change tour with a blistering two-hour performance last night at the Wachovia Spectrum in Philadelphia. First Bruce joined Michael Stipe and REM for a duet on “Man on the Moon”. After REM’s set Nils Lofgren came on stage and played a Jimi Hendrix style “Star Spangled Banner” before the whole E Street Band and Bruce entered and kicked into “Born in the USA”. “Badlands”, “No Surrender”, “Lost in the Flood”, full-band “Youngstown” and many other classics followed. John Fogerty joined Bruce for three of his own songs plus a duet on “The Promised Land”. The show ended with all the artists on stage together for a version of Patti Smith’s “People Have the Power”.
