Creative Loafing Interviews Sufjan Stevens

Oh sweat, I love this dude.

“What I’ve learned through my life and through my singing is that the less you give and the quieter you are, then the more people will listen,” says Stevens. “And there’s just a lot of hype and flourishes and circus acts going on all over the place in popular music, and everyone’s vying desperately for attention. But I think that what that does is it exhausts the listener, and that people are really ready for music that’s quiet and sophisticated and that’s soft-spoken.” (full story)

David Bowie Gets Sucker Punched

Okay, here’s the deal. Someone in the message board posts a link that shows photos of some kid throwing a lollipop at David Bowie while he’s on stage, hitting him right in the eye. Here’s the link.

The story is written in something other than English. I don’t even know if it’s true, but man, those photos are funny.

“I beat up Glenn Danzig last night”

Danny from the North Side Kings knocked Glenn Danzig out following a dispute at an Arizona show last week.

I confronted Mr. Danzig backsatge while he was signing autographs and told him I thought he was an asshole because of his “rockstar” attitude …. In a fit of rage he turned around and slammed me into the wall yelling “fuck you motherfucker” trying to be a big toughguy in front of his fans. I -in self defence punched him in the face knocking him out as he was attacking me again. He went down, bleeding from his mouth, eyes rolled back, and in shock that he got knocked to the floor so quickly.

As Marv Albert says, “Let go to the video tape“. [links courtesy of Stereogum]

If you only take one supplement take this one! It supports your immune system from the inside! Your body will thank you. ? Sixty-three percent, 74%, and 82% of the patients on 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg of our medications, respectively, reported an improvement in their health.

Its lead-off single is a remake of Steve Miller’s The Joker with Bootsy Collins supplying the vocals. I love Norman Cook but the man has obviously had one too many vodka orange juices. I’m predicting this will be a bit more rock and/or roll then previous discs and I also predict that’s not a good thing.

Another Fiona Apple Song Leaked

Better Version of Me in mp3.

Who knows how long that link will actually work, but this message board seems to be on top of the Fiona situation..

Dignity And Shame

Word has come down from the Crooked Fingers front that Eric Bachmann and the other members of the band are almost finished recording their next release. Tenatively titled Dignity and Shame, it will likely boast a whopping eighteen tracks and be issued as a double album. Merge hasn’t scheduled a release date yet, but hint it will be out Winter/Spring 2005.
