We’ve Gone Grey

A few hours before Grey Tuesday. When playing with your style sheets, these things take time.

Expect more info on Grey Tuesday, along with relevant links, sometime tonight.

Donewaiting.com Supports Grey Tuesday

Grey Tuesday

We’ll be going Grey on Tuesday, although we can’t host any mp3s (we’re already having bandwidth issues). For more details on the battle for this album, and why it’s wrong, go here.

PS: You can still download the entire album here.

Light FM begins their golden age.

Today marks the release of the debut album for Chicago power-rockers Light FM. The boys are friends of Done Waiting and even helped anchor the Chicago date of the first Field Studies Tour so we thought you should know that their new album is awesome. I’d say it was better than the last Wilco disc but then I would have to out-run the fists of fury belonging to one Robert Duffy Jr. So I’ll just say it’s pretty damn good.

This product is very helpful for me and I take it every day along with this product to help keep my erectile system in check. Buy viagra online safe? We would strongly recommend you to consult your doctor before taking a medication.

A full review of the disc is here.
Info regarding their CD release show tonight in Chicago is here.
A picture of my beagle is .

That is all.

TV on the Radio

In the “Bands-That-You-Don’t-Know-But-Know-You-Should” category, falls, for me, a band called TV on the Radio.

Somewhere, I read their sound described as:

The crossbred vocals of Peter Gabriel and Ozzy Osbourne fronting a pissed-off Beta Band.

Sounds cool to me. And they’re sexy-looking, too.

Their new Touch and Go LP, “Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes” is set for release on March 9.

Check their site for a big ol’ list of tourdates. In the Ohio neck of the woods, they’ll be stopping for a night in Cleveland with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I think I’ll check them out this coming Monday, the 23rd, here in NYC.

Check out this blog, too. Funny, fantastical, clever stuff about religion, politics, rock n roll, deer pants, gorillas, and human nature.

Beastie Boys meditate on new album, ask for Dalai Lama's approval.

From the Beastie Boys themselves:

“I know, you’re like “what’s up fool? where’s the record!!??!!?………” well, we are in the studio finishing it now, so ease up already and don’t call me fool, fool. we’re putting the final touches on the mixes right now and it will be out beginning of june. so we’ll be seeing you in a hot new york minute…… until then cool your jets, step back, relax and ease off the throttle. the shit’s on it’s way, no delay….. and always remember when things get hot — it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity…….”

Have had more success compared to the much more expensive products that my doctor wanted me to take. I am very happy with the results. ! We would strongly recommend you to consult your doctor before taking a medication.

My birthday’s in June…do you think they’ll dedicate the album to me?

Let the Lollapalooza Rumors Begin

Rumors being circulated about Lolla 2004. This discussion mentions Pixes, Nine Inch Nails, Libertines.

Here’s my prediction: ticket prices too high, mediocre line-up, and at least 2 shows cancelled.

NJ Mom Sues Music Industry for Racketeering

And the people begin to fight back:

“They’re banding together to extort money, telling people they’re guilty and they will have to pay big bucks to defend their cases if they don’t pony up now. It is fundamentally not fair,” Scimeca’s lawyer, Bart Lombardo, said yesterday. (full story)

NJ always representing.

Happy Birthday, Donewaiting.com

It’s time to cut the birthday cake and pin the tail on the donkey, friends. Oh yes oh yes, donewaiting.com has survived one year on the internet with only a few bruises and scraped elbows.

Our adult teeth are starting to grow in, and we’ve just started to mumble our first words. Surprisingly enough, the first words uttered by the one year old infant website was “mp3” and “Tweedy.” Go figure.

So, what happened in a year?

  • We sponsored 16 concerts and two multi-city tours.
  • We’ve added a bunch of amazing writers to the sites, including columnists in San Francisco, Los Angeles, England, Jersey City, Indianapolis, Houston, Chicago and Columbus.
  • We started a music technology blog, Signal to Noise. We cancelled the blog. We started it up again.
  • Charlesworth created one of the funniest music columns on the internet, DURST WATCH, only to quit faster than a Guns N Roses reunion.
  • We’ve turned on people to new bands, we’ve turned bands on to new audiences.
  • We’re now transmitting over 125 gigabytes of data per month. Considering we’re just sending text and the occasional image, that’s a lot of information flowing around the world.

    And oh so much more.

In a time where I hate close to 90% of the music blogs and websites out there, I think we’re doing a pretty good job keeping one eye on the national music scene, and the other eye on the local scenes of the world.

Be sure to bake an apple pie for your local donewaiting.com correspondent. No one on the site gets paid anything (including me), since working on the site is more of an afterhours/weekend labor of love. But we will take your pies. And your cakes.

Speaking of cakes, we have two more birthday cakes to eat this month. We’ve already celebrated the birthday of donewaiting.com in Chicago, Indianapolis, Dayton, and Jersey City, but now it’s time to celebrate in the city that birthed donewaiting.com. That’s right, folks, we’re blowing it up new school style in Columbus Ohio.

    Check it out, folks:

    Fri., February 20, 2004
    Columbus, OHLittle Brother’s $5 Doors 9pm
w/ Silo the Huskie [mp3], Tiara, The Six Parts Seven with Brian Straw [mp3], Ken Gould [mp3]

    Fri., February 27, 2004
    Columbus, OHLittle Brother’s $5 Doors 9pm
w/ The Party of Helicopters [mp3], Miranda Sound [mp3], Silencio

Thanks to all the people who have visited the site over the past year. We have a lot planned for the next 12 months, and we think you’re gonna like it.

You can share your well wishes in the message board if you like: go here.

Again, thanks for helping us out on this little experiment. Just like the dude who jumped from the Empire State Building kept saying before he hit ground: so far so good, so far so good, so far so good……

  • News from The Sights

Thanks to Urge Overkill and oh, ha ha ha Tenacious D for good times in Chicago. We signed a three album deal with the Scratchie/New Line record company for most of the world except the UK and Australia, where we make our records for Sweet Nothing and Shock respectively. The new full length record should be out July-ish. (official site)

While you’re at it, check out the donewaiting.com Sights interview here.
