First the Pixies reunite, now this

Okay, so it’s not a new album from the godfather of shoegazer rock, Kevin Shields, but the mastermind behind My Bloody Valentine is readying a box set of MBV material. In typical Shields fashion, however, don’t expect the box set anytime soon, according to MyBloodyValentine.net. That site reports that there will actually be 2 box sets AND a DVD but that nothing will see the light of day until late 2005, early 2006.

Here are the details:

If all goes well, the following will be part of the anthology (2 boxes combined + DVD) plus other interesting information:

Box 1:
This is your Bloody Valentine
Geek E.P
The new record by….
Sunny Sundae Smile E.P
Strawberry Wine E.P
Ecstacy E.P
Live 1984-87 (double CD)

This box will most likely be limited to a few thousand only, due to the lack of real interest apart from the hardcore devotee’s Live 84-87 will consist of the best performances from the pre-glide guitar era(sic) Through-out MBV’s lifetime, Kev always personally made sure each & every show was recorded via soundboard. All tracks are currently being digitally remastered

Box 2:
You made me realise E.P+ out-takes
Feed me with your kiss E.P + out-takes
Is’nt anything “the alternate versions” + out-takes
Glider E.P + out-takes
Tremolo E.P + out-takes
Loveless “the alternate versions” + out-takes
Live 1987-92 (4 CD)

Live 87-92 will be a triple CD full of the best versions as far as Kev is concerned when it comes to the live stuff. Kev personally made sure each show was recorded via soundboard……………so he’s got a shit-load of material to sift through. All tracks are currently being digitally remastered

DVD:
All the music videos. Combination of 3 live shows mixed into one. Various TV interviews. Homemade camcorder footage. DVD is going to be interesting. First it was going to be in the vein of Nirvana’s “Live tonight sold out”,which combined live footage with homemade camcorder fun, mixed with the videos & interviews. That idea has been scraped because,er,well…it’s DVD!!!you can have each under it own menu.

As hoped by many fans & critics, the94/95 post-Loveless sessions will never be released!………. not while Kev is alive anyway. He never was happy with the out-come!

I’d also like to add that MBV are not back together working in the studio! Yes Kev has been in Berlin, Yes he’s been tweaking the Glider E.P out-takes for this anthology release.

My Bloody Valentine belong in the late 80’s/ early 90’s, Kev knows that…..and he wants them to stay there.

Copyright Police Raid KAZAA

From CBS Marketwatch:

WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) — Search warrants allowing the seizure of material violating Australia’s copyright laws were executed Friday at the offices of Sharman Networks, Brilliant Digital Entertainment, several universities, and the homes of company officers.

Raids by the Music Industry Piracy Investigations were also conducted against four Internet service providers including Telstra, the country’s largest access seller.

The orders were directed against KaZaa, the general manager of MIPI told ZDNet Australia. “This is not about individuals, this is about the big fish,” said Michael Speck. “This is a signal that Internet music piracy is finished in Australia.”

Sharman Networks, which owns KaZaa, said in a statement, “This is a knee-jerk reaction by the recording industry to discredit Sharman and KaZaa, following a number of decisions around the world that have ruled against the entertainment industry’s agenda to stamp out peer-to-peer technology.”

Great. Now where am I going to download the new Metallica CD from?

Tower Records to Seek Chapter 11

Fueling Up the Rocket Ship

Grammys ban Janet Jackson, NFL bans JC Chasez and TNT is going to use a 7 second delay for the NBA All-Star Game. All so we do see a breast again. Thanks, fools.

I’m moving to Mars.

Donewaiting.com Tour Begins Tonight!

For the second time ever, the donewaiting.com computer unplugs from Columbus, Ohio, leaving the comfort of metaspace for the cold and windy meatspace.

That’s right, y’all, it’s time for another donewaiting.com tour. This time we’re hitting four cities in three days. That’s how crazy we are.

Thursday is Dayton, Friday is Chicago and Jersey City, and Saturday in Indianapolis. No bill is exactly the same.

These shows were put together to celebrate the one year anniversary of the site. I’ll have a more nostalgic look at that next week, but for now it’s time to saddle up:

Getting to Know Suffrajett

My doctor told me that you’d live longer if you learn about one new band every day. Why not read what Chip Midnight has to say about Suffrajett?

David Bowie let?s the good times keep rolling and continues towards noble goal of becoming the richest man in Europe

The Thin White Duke — a.k.a. The Picture of Dorian Gray — has announced a whole bunch of new dates on his Reality tour.

Plus: The Polyphonic Spree are opening the first half of the newly added dates!
Minus: He?s not playing Chicago again.
Plus: Some of the new dates are in other donewaiting.com cities like Columbus and Indianapolis!
Minus: Those dates have the Stereophonics opening.

Take it from your old friend Tankboy though, if you dig Bowie at all, this is the tour to see.

I?ve seen him numerous times over the past fifteen years and this is the definitely the best show he?s put on in my experience.

Mountain Goats

Largehearted Boy is calling the new Mountain Goats album the first great release of 2004. While I think that title should go to Dizzee Rascal, I still appreciate his enthusiasm.

You can go here, on his site to get a whole bunch of Mountain Goat MP3s and info. It’ll do you right, for sure.
