These People Want to Boycott Skinny Puppy

Patriotic Americans Boycotting Anti-American Hollywood has sent letters threatening a boycott against radio stations playing the new Skinny Puppy album. Here’s the text:

In the past few months a band by the name of Skinny Puppy has slandered Bush. At several of their concerts over the Summer they have simulated an assassination of the president. On their current Fall tour they simulated a beheading similar to the ones happening in Iraq. When the vocalist pulls off their hoods he reveals the terrorists to be Bush and Cheney. This is unacceptable and I encourage you not to play their latest record, The Greater Wrong of the Right, that has been indicated by their record label as being played on your station.

Conservatives are currently a majority of the populace now and we have voted into power a majority in every level of government. The people of this country have the power as evident by our boycott of the Reagan miniseries, the Superbowl, and the Dixie Chicks. If you still choose to play their music we have the ability to put financial pressure on your station through boycotts.

Please remove Skinny Puppy from rotation or we will have no choice but to boycott your station.

The question I want answered is… what radio station is playing Skinny Puppy these days?

Also, last time I checked, the Dixie Chicks were doing just fine. [credz]

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Pitchfork But Were Afraid to Ask

The past, present and future of Pitchfork can all be read here. Good read.

My current feelings on Pitchfork: I think their news section is at least 1-2 days behind other places keeping daily track of similar bands.

As for their reviews, I normally don’t agree with them, but I give them credit for continually writing about albums that are true independents, not just “fake” independents like the Killers.

CMJ Plans Mini-Festival in Cleveland

In conjunction with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, CMJ (College Music Journal) is planning on staging a mini-festival – the CMJ/Rock Hall Music Fest – in Cleveland, June 9 to 11, 2005.

Here are is some of the press release issued by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:

?This is the type of major festival that Cleveland has talked about for years,? said Terry Stewart, chairman and chief executive officer of the Rock Hall. ?It will showcase both established performers and emerging artists that could become tomorrow?s stars, and it represents unprecedented collaboration between all the major music venues in town.?

The music festival will kick off Wednesday, June 8, with an opening-night concert at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. From June 9 through June 11, a full lineup of concerts will be featured each evening at House of Blues, the Odeon, Peabody?s, Beachland Ballroom, the Agora and the Grog Shop. Back-to-back daytime concerts will also be scheduled at the festival village at Nautica on the West Bank of the Flats. In addition, a series of educational programs, panel discussions and workshops will focus on the artistic and economic aspects of today?s music scene.

Stewart, who emphasized that Music Fest events will be affordable and widely accessible, said performers, schedules and ticket information will be announced later …

While the CMJ/Rock Hall Music Fest will be part of the Rock Hall?s 10th anniversary celebration, the Museum plans to make the festival an annual event.

Over 100 bands are expected to participate in the 3 day event.
