Thom Yorke Interview

I am not sure this is more important than Warrant breaking up, but I wanted to post this before I forget it. Resonance Magazine online has an interesting article/interview with Thom Yorke.

View it here.

First big band breakup of 2004

It’s a sad, sad day in the Atomic Ned household as Warrant has announced that they are breaking up. Read about it here and shed a few tears with me.

Local Band CD Pricing Discussion

A great discussion was started in our message board about the acceptable price a local band should charge for their CD. It’s now turned into a resource for where bands can get info on some places that will burn a run of 500-1,000 CDs for you on the cheaper side. Here’s the discussion. Get an education.

SFBG Blasts De Capo’s Best Music Writing Series

De Capo’s Best Music Writing series is a yearly anthology of magazine articles that supposedly represent the best in music journalism for that year.

Jeff Chang takes a hard look at the series and isn’t happy with what he sees. Bottom line: “To accept Da Capo’s current worldview is to accept a lie”.

Donewaiting.com Slayer-A-Thon Now in Progress

Donewaiting.com writer Chip Midnight is about to attempt something that’s never been documented in the history of the internet! He plans to listen to the entire Slayer boxed set in one sitting! Holy crap is he insane. Why yes he is.

He’s keeping a running commentary of his experience and you can get that right here.

Pray for his soul.

2004 Columbus Band Power

Over 25 Columbus OH bands let me know what their plans for 2004 are and you can read it here.

None of them had plans to dangle their children over a crocodile, so we chalk that up to being a good thing.

'Tis the season to make up or break up, eh?

Add Mission Of Burma to the list of regrouped groups.

Matador Records is totally psyched to announce the signing of Mission Of Burma. The new album – their first new studio recordings in 22 years – is tentatively scheduled for worldwide release in May 2004. Mission Of Burma were a Boston-based band circa 1978-1983. During their brief tenure, they released one album, one EP and two singles for the Ace Of Hearts label, all of which have been reissued on CD by Rykodisc. Demo recordings and radio sessions were later released in less impressive form by the Taang label. (full story)

This makes me NOT want to reach for my revolver…now if only Martin Swope was on-board my giddiness would reach dizzying heights!

Signal-to-Noise Returns to Donewaiting.com

Signal to Noise, the donewaiting.com column on file sharing, digital media and your rights online is now back in action. Make with the clicky and get an education. Originally handled by Bryce Glass, the column is now being taken over by our friend Jawbreaker who has kept the message board active with his mad posting skills. We’re happy to have him onboard!

These are important times for the future of music, and we hope to document as much of that as possible.

Urge Overkill Might Reunite, But Sensefield Just Broke Up

Letter from the band.

Urge to play again?

It’s been whispered around Chicago that Ed Roeser and Nash Kato might re-team as Urge Overkill and the buzz grows louder as rumors of a show at First Avenue in Minneapolis seems to be in the works. A number of dates also show up on Pollstar under the Urge Overkill moniker although they have been promoted as Nash Kato solo dates thus far…

Excited to possibly see the Glammer Twins back together?

Sure, why not?

UPDATE: It’s solid. The gig is back on with a couple Chicago locals providing the rhythm section behind Nash and Ed. Look for East and West Coast dates, but now much in-between yet.
