MTV Admits to Bad Live 8 Coverage

They realized that interrupting the Pink Floyd reunion to cut to an MTV VJ might not have been the best thing. Whoopsies.

Acknowledging it blew last weekend’s coverage, MTV and sister channel VH1 will air 10 straight hours of musical performances pulled from the Live 8 shows on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. ET/PT. VH1 will carry the special from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; MTV will pick it up from 3 to 8 p.m.

And here’s the most interesting news: the special reprise of the Live 8 shows will run without commercials. (full story)

  1. Wow, I guess that would be ok. But considering that when the moment was there and now it’s gone….if they want to save face, they should try to put back David Lee Roth and the Van Halen boys for a show.
We’ve all (thanks to AOL) allready seen the pink floyd show in it’s entirety.
try something new to make up for their blunders

  2. That is so suprising that MTV would mess up covering a concert. Obviously for some years now, actually covering music is about number 10 on their list with staples in testicles and booty calls being of top importance.

  3. Damn straight!

(Also, as a note to MTV, next time one of the greatest bands in the world is reuniting after 21 years, switch to an annoying DJ during Will Smith’s performance.)

  4. Andie MacDowell's Balls

    This just in: MTV sucks.

    When did this become news?

  5. they pulled shit during the original Live Aid as well. i remember freaking the fuck out because i’d waited all day to see Queen, and right in the middle of their set, suddenly i’m watching that twat Alan Hunter attempt to sing along to Bohemian Rhapsody. that was the day i realized that God hates me.
