Major Label: “Everyone is downloading our music for free, we aren’t making any money. Sob cry sob. What are we to do?”

Apple: “We’ve just created the iPod! People love it! We’ve just started the iTunes Music Store where you can now legally download songs for just 99 cents!”

Major Label: “Hurrah, we are saved! Everyone makes money, everyone win!”

Three years later….

Major Label: “We want to charge $1.49 for hot singles! We aren’t getting enough money! We are never satisfied!”
