So the new Apple commercial is a shot by shot rip off (or homage) of the video for “Such Great Heights” by The Postal Service. You can see a side by side comparison if you don’t believe me.
Now, Ben Gibbard has posted this response:
It has recently come to our attention that Apple Computers’ new television commercial for the Intel chip features a shot-for-shot recreation of our video for ‘Such Great Heights’ made by the same filmmakers responsible for the original. We did not approve this commercialization and are extremely disappointed with both parties that this was executed without our consultation or consent.
So there you go.

Odd, since on iTunes is has the Postal Service video advertised.
Ben Gibbard will fucking whine about anything. The people who made the Postal Service video should be free to take the idea and run with it as they see fit. It was their idea.
Next he’ll be griping about Sam Beam licensing his COVER of “Such Great Heights” to M&M’s.
