As the music swarm begins to flood Austin, it’s time to start focusing on the upcoming days ahead. The time I’ve spent here at the Interactive and Film panels have been great – this part has actually seemed like a vacation, while the music part is going to feel like work. (but I do miss my girlfriend)
Okay, let me try to remember what I did yesterday.
10am: Panel – Remixing Business for a Convergent World – Smart people, good conversations, I learned a few things. Exactly what a panel should do!
11:30am: Panel – Microformats – Ouchie, my brain hurts. Me too stupid for this. Left after 5 minutes.
1:15pm: Documentary – Summercamp! – This was a heartbreaking and heartwarming story of a three week summercamp session. Lots of funny moments, shot really well. Could be one of those sleeper hits like “March of the Penguins.” Directed by the same person who directed the Flaming Lips documentary “The Fearless Freaks.”
3:30pm: Panel – Designing for Community with ‘Zero-Advertising’ Brands – The panel features the people who created the Threadless empire. Do you know they sell close to 1 million shirts a year? And 4 million of those shirts were walking around the interactive conference?
5pm: Panel – How to Bootstrap Your Digital Business – Holy crap, more smart and well spoken people. Lots of good advice taken from this one.
6pm: Dinner – Nuclear Tacos: Free tacos, beer and ice cream. Did I mention they were NUCLEAR tacos? While on line, everyone recommended starting with mild and then working your way up to nuclear. They were right. I think my mouth is still burning. I also got to meet some great people from Austin as well as Doppler aka the SXSW webmaster. Good times for sure.
7pm: Party – Blogger Party – Whoops, got there too late and the line wasn’t moving at all. Never got in.
9:45pm: Documetary – Punk Like Me – Story about this band, Carne Asada, who sort of talked their way onto the Warped Tour without being a real band. Chip and I went in thinking we were gonna hate it, but we actually enjoyed it.
I miss you too.
