Warren Ellis on Scout Niblett

I guess Warren didn’t like it……

“I AM” by Scout Niblett was sent me by a friend. I had my doubts, after her denatured cover of “Uptown Top Ranking.” After I AM, I’m afraid I have to consign her to the same mental space I keep Joanna Newsom — somewhere between “misguided” and “on list for re-education camp attendance when I take over world”. Because I am essentially benign, and calling for people to have musicians’ hands broken is something I like to think I left behind in my twenties. The adult thing to do is to avoid anything the poor woman has touched and say no more about it. Everyone’s tastes are different, and I’m sure there are many people not in hospitals who enjoy Ms Niblett’s work very much.
