I caught Final Fantasy last night in Columbus OH. He was really good. He might have even been GREAT. But dang, it’s hard to shake that Andrew Bird comparison from my head.
Granted, the only thing the two have in common is the way they sample their violins, creating a beautiful wall of sound, but that’s a pretty big thing. Their lyrical content is different, their music styles are different, Bird also plays a guitar, there’s lots of other big differences. But still, it was dancing around in the back of my set while I saw them.
Loved the show, though. Sad that I missed openers The Black Swans.

Anyway, I was at that Final Fantasy show. I’ve never seen Andrew Bird live, but I can’t see how he and Owen could be comparable. I thought the show was great for such a small crowd.
