  1. Robert:
    Here’s another party:
BAAMO – The Bay Area Arts and Music Organization http://www.baamo.org

    5th Annual BANDANGO
    Wednesday, March 14, 2007, 12:30 pm until 6:30 pm
Yard Dog Folk Art Gallery, 1510 South Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas
Go to the 5th annual BANDANGO and hear the hottest bands from some of this year’s hottest bands playing their hearts out. If that’s not enough to lure, there’s also the beer, alligator chili, black beans & yellow rice, fresh Cuban bread and Ybor-city hand-rolled cigars.

Guest MC/Performer Jon Langford (Mekons/Waco Brothers) will oversee festivities, which begin around 12:30pm and continue to 6:30.
Visit http://www.baamo.org for a song sampler of the performers, who include:

Mojo Gurus: Roots rock with roadhouse attitude, the Mojo Gurus’ Shakin’ In The Barn cd (Empire Musicwerks/Universal Records) was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Jack Douglas (John Lennon, Aerosmith). Shakin’ in the Barn stayed on Americana and Alt County charts for six months in 2006 and delivers “a terrific dose of rock ‘n’ roll with elements of rockabilly, hard rock, two-step and even punk rock.” (Sun Herald, 12/16/05)

Geri X: Bulgaria-native Geri X is busy capturing the musical heart of Tampa Bay. Crowned best 2006 Singer/Songwriter, her latest release is described as “beautifully wrought and emotionally compelling without ever getting sappy or resorting to clichés. Unbelievable stuff.”(Creative Loafing, 12/13/06)

The Beauvilles: With their heady mixture of vintage and modern rock, The Beauvilles have wowed audiences from the Nemo Music Festival in Boston to the NARAS/Grammy showcase in Miami. “The Beauvilles have an uncanny knack for creating music that is passionate, moody, and nothing short of brilliant.” (RagMagazine, J. Rowe, 1/06)

Nessie: As the title of their new cd, Drunk With A Gun implies, you never know what’s next at a Nessie show. But it’s always fun. A “Who’s Who” of Tampa musicians, the band is fronted by former Creative Loafing music critic, Scott Harrell and the music is full of classic twang-rock touchstones and “that Pixies, stop ‘n’ go, urgency.” (Bradenton Herald, Wade Tatangelo, 9/7/06).

Hangtown: Originally formed in 1998 and signed with Black Dog Records, Hangtown reunited in 2005 and released Gone Today, Here Tomorrow, with the help of Eric “Roscoe” Ambel. The result “flirt(s) with a country-rock sound while migrating toward the pop-rock mainstream.” (Fufkin, E.Sorensen, 09/06)

The Human Condition: Acoustic-fronted rock with folk and progressive roots, The Human Condition offers “music with honesty and heart…played with passion, energy and dynamics. Alternate guitar tunings and odd time rhythms add a signature sonic picture that separates from the usual songwriter sound.” (Opelika Daily News, Jerry Katz, 9/4/06)

BAAMO is a non-profit organization working to expand and promote the Tampa Bay area’s diverse music, art and cultural offerings inside and outside Florida. Recent projects include Power to The People, a cd tribute to protest music, co-sponsored by Community Radio WMNF 88.5 FM Tampa and Tales of Drink & Debauchery, a sampler of Tampa Bay artists singing about drink, debauchery and love-gone-wrong. CD artwork was created by St. Petersburg-based artist and musician Hugh Williams.

if you just search by state, it shows registered bands from that state at the top of the list

i’m guessing the lists aren’t complete yet, but it’s a peek at least

  3. Looks like you can find several hundred bands by using Daisy’s tip.
