Jay Farrar disbanded Son Volt in 1998 and went the solo route. In October, Farrar recruited Brad Rice (guitar–Tift Merritt, Ryan Adams), Andrew Duplantis (bass?Jon Dee Graham, Meat Puppets, Bob Mould), Eric Heywood (pedal steel?Son Volt, Calexico) and Dave Bryson (drums?Canyon) to join Son Volt. A new studio album is due in mid-2005. Son Volt performs at the Mound City Music Fest in St.Louis on December 11. Their next scheduled date? You guessed it … SXSW.
