Music photographer Mick Rock exhibition at SXSW

Okay, so this is not about bands, but it definitely will be an awesome thing to see during the week at SXSW 2005. On Saturday, March 19th legendary rock and roll photographer Mick Rock will debut an exclusive exhibit of his work, and give a special book signing at Austin?s FactoryPeople.

Internationally celebrated for his iconic work in the 70s with David Bowie, Debbie Harry, Lou Reed, The Ramones and more — Rock today is one of the most sought after photographers in the world. In April of 2005 he will release a highly anticipated retrospective on Iggy Pop, including some of his most dramatic work.

Recently Mick has worked with stars like Kate Moss, Michael Stipe, and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and has produced several acclaimed retrospectives of the glam rock era, including Blood and Glitter- Glam: An Eyewitness Account and a collaboration with David Bowie, Moonage Daydream; Raw Power: Iggy and the Stooges and Psychedelic Renegades/Syd Barrett. His retrospective at Tokyo’s Metropolitan Museum of Photography in 2003 was hailed as “one of the most exciting exhibitions of pop culture imagery to ever reach these shores.”

Mick will be signing copies of Mick Rock: A Photographic Record- 1969-1980, Picture This: Debbie Harry and Blondie, Blood and Glitter- Glam: An Eyewitness Account and a collaboration with David Bowie, among others. The exhibit will include twenty to thirty of his most celebrated prints.
