Austin Chronicle Briefly Mentions Possible Intentional SXSW Info Holdout

In Today’s Austin Chronicle, Christopher Gray writes:

Lamberts became the latest venue to sign up for SXSW 07, and although SXSW is withholding its initial band list for a while longer to cut down on day-party poaching, TCB has heard that … (list of bands we already know)… (full story)

There is no quotes from SXSW people in the column, so I am not sure if what he wrote is speculation or fact, just passing the link along on the ol’ blog.

Flashback: for SXSW 2006, a small initial band list was released December 15, 2005.

  1. what is “day-party poaching”?? are they saying that they are trying to prevent showcasing bands from playing day shows?

  2. the sxsw people work pretty closely with the Austin Chronicle. In fact the publishers of the Chron are co-owners of sxsw. So anything published in the paper about the festival is NOT speculation.

  3. SXSW organizers are a-holes and totally full of themself. I can’t WAIT to go see the bands they lure to town w/o a single penny going to them!!!!!
