good article, really nailed it about how arrogant and dismissive the fest has been about the general public.
Well said, Robert. And on the off chance that the real reason they are holding off on releasing the list is to curb day shows, I have news for them. I have tons more listed now than I did in the corresponding week last year.
This year will be the 10th straight that I’ve been to SXSW. I’m not in the industry, and I’ve bought a badge every year. I will almost certainly NEVER return. The disdain shown for both attendees and performing acts is beyond appalling, and I will not give one penny to the SXSW organization in the future unless a huge, sincere apology is given to all, and a promise is made not to act this way again. If that doesn’t happen, they can pound sand, and I hope the “unofficial” SXSW takes over completely.
