Preparing for SXSW

The Donewaiting.com SXSW blog’s main mission is to be a constant flow of information about the festival. Before the official band list is announced we like to dig up all the info on once bands are playing, and then after that we like to post as many day shows as we can. But it’s definitely not organized in any way – it’s a nonstop stream of information.

That’s why we recommend you head over to Showlist Austin right now and print out all the info Dan has. It’s nice, easy to read, and very comprehensive.

Starting now we move into “festival coveragae” mode. Be safe on your trips to Texas.

  1. How about a SXSW Blogwhoring Open Thread?

I guess here is as good a place as any: check out my crazy mad SXSW coverage starting Tuesday at The J Train!

  2. Where can I find a good SXSW map?

  3. Al, yaris-sxsw.com has a nice interactive one, but for my money, nothing beats this map my dad got at a convention earlier this year – it’s got every bar and venue downtown laid out on the map. It’s called Tune To Austin and it’s pretty colorful; if you can get your hands on one, it’s a lifesaver.

  4. Thanks a bunch erin!

  5. Hey folks. I’m down in Austin from Montreal, covering SXSW for a daily paper and for my blog, and I hereby inform you of the two awesome podcasts available on my blog that offer up 20 or so of the 30 Montreal bands playing the fest. Part One and Part Two. Shameless self promotion, but they’re also full of good stuff.

  6. Hi, All the way from Orkney in Scotland. Check out my pre-SXSW prep website with hot picks of best new bands and my planned killer schedule. Show reviews, photos and general buzz reports added daily.

    Cheers

  7. Hey Burning Club, I’d love to meet up with you in Austin. I leave Tuesday and will be in town Tuesday night. Any plans? Two Cow Garage are playing at Beerland at their annual pre-SXSW show and I’ll be there. I plan on sporting some Donewaiting t-shirts while in Austin (I’m leaving on Saturday) so stop me in the street if you see me. I’ll definitely be trying to see The Twilight Sad as many times as possible.

  8. There are always tons of handy pocket-sized maps at the Convention Center. They literally pass them out to anyone and everyone – like escort service flyers on the Vegas strip.
