NPR ran a cool story this morning about Leon Kagarise, a Maryland man who in the early 60s recorded live events of such legendary talents as The Stanley Brothers, Flatt and Scruggs, Johnny Cash, and George Jones. Until recently, no one knew Mr. Kagarise even had these tapes. These are not your ordinary concert recordings either; Mr. Kagarise was allowed to put his mic next to the bands mics on stage – the sound quality is pretty incredible. Now The Library of Congress and the Country Music Hall of Fame are interested in purchasing his collection. Amazing! Be sure to check out the samples in the left hand navigation and enjoy!
‘Mr. Kagarise, can we listen to this?’
