this story should generate some interest: Apple has planned a meeting with “hundreds” of indie labels to interest them in putting their bands on iTunes. of those labels invited are heavy hitters Sub-pop and Matador: for those just climbing out from under a rock, Sub-pop’s label includes luminaries such as Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, L7, Hole, the Donewaiting favorite Fruit Bats, and my personal favorite Kinski; Matador could offer up to iTunes Pavement, Guided by Voices, Interpol, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Cat Power, Donewaiting favorites New Pornographers, and my favorites, Yo La Tengo and Mogwai.
