Robert X. Cringely over at his site on PBS has a new idea for a music file sharing service: Snapster. it is an interesting read. essentially what Cringely proposes is a publicly trade company that buys a single copy of every record out there and then sells shares of the company to allow membership into the download service. Cringely purports this as legal due to the concept of Fair Use…IANAL, so what do i know. sounds shakey to me.
anyway, interesting read. would be more interesting if some big money pocket like Paul Allen put it into play. hint hint, Paul.
