The Sun in Austin (and everywhere else)

As I sat in front of the television this morning, the sun rising up over Brooklyn and Staten Island behind me, wishing time would slow down, or just go away altogether, trying to deny this Monday morning, I switched to MTV2, to find Jim Shearer mid-interview with Columbus, Ohio, band, The Sun. It was a piece shot during the recent SXSW festival, The Sun set to play Buffalo Billiards later that day.

They were charming enough, making a distinction between themselves and ?garage rock? bands like the Strokes and the White Stripes, saying, facetiously (I think) that they were all runway models before they came together as The Sun.

They then joked about the multitude of puns the media has enjoyed quipping over their name. ?The Best Thing Under The Sun.? ?The Sun Rises Over (your town goes here).? ?Here Comes The Sun.? Shit like that. Who can blame them? I did it myself at least twice here, and I wasn?t even trying. They laughed, pretended to arm wrestle, then played their video for the song, ?Carry It All.? It was pretty good.

Right after that, they played Linkin Park. Duffy would?ve been so damn happy.
