3 Doors Down to Play RIAA Party for Bush’s Inauguration

Wow.

3 Doors Down, RIAA and George Bush all wrapped into one event. There’s so many jokes that can be written about this.

The Jan. 20 RIAA bash at the upscale H20 club will be slanted toward a young crowd, with a set by Universal Records act 3 Doors Down. The band’s new album, “Seventeen Days,” will be in stores Feb. 8.

“We’re honored that the RIAA asked us to perform at their inauguration party,” 3DD vocalist Brad Arnold says in the party announcement. “It was great that so many people voted this year-especially young people — and we’re proud to be a part of this event.” Ticket prices are about $1,000, with proceeds used to pay for the cost of the “serious food, open bar” event, according to an RIAA spokesperson. Bands Needed for Donewaiting.com Tsunami Relief Benefit 1/28 @ Little Brother’s (Columbus, Ohio)

Like many of you, I still can’t grasp the tragedy that happened last week. It’s beyond my mind to understand. The death toll is at 150,000. The Red Cross thinks 1,000,000 will have died once this is all over.

What we can do here in Columbus OH is help.

I’m organizing a Tsunami Relief Concert on Friday, January 28 @ Little Brother’s. I need bands. I need help. I need whatever you can give to make this a success in such a short amount of time. We have less than four weeks to organize.

I’ve contacted some booking agents, and have talked to a few bands, but I still have some spots available. If your band can play this show, please contact me immediately. Email me at duffy@donewaiting.com.

If you want to help out in putting this show together, I could use that help too.

The Annotated Beastie Boys

Here is one person’s passion of pointing out every reference in Beastie Boys lyrics.

I’ve always thought that a similar project with Rage Against the Machine lyrics would make a good book.

Released: Donewaiting.com Disposable Radio Show/Podcast #3

Featuring the Arcade Fire, Jesse Sykes, Eric Metronome, Gift of Gab, new music from Low and much much more. Make with the clicky.

As I’ve mentioned before, podcasts are a misleading term. If you can listen to an mp3, you can listen to our radio show.

Wilco Play Surprise Short Set for 70 People in NYC

The show was @ Piano’s during Tinkle, which is the somewhat regular David Cross comedy show he hosts there.

Last year Kiesha and I saw Ted Leo play at a Tinkle show, and that show was filmed for the Ted Leo DVD…. and yes, you can see us on that DVD for about 4 seconds.

One Last Vote

If you’ve liked the podcasts we’ve done so far, please be a chum and vote for our podcast on Podcast Alley.

If we get a good amount of votes, and a lot of people voting, it will expose our show to more and more people.

It’d make my mom happy, at least.

CNN’s best music compilations

CNN has a great list of the best compilations. One of my favorites, Echo & The Bunnymen, tops the list. Click here for the list.

There’s a lot of good recommendations. Spend that Christmas dough!

So This is The New Year

No indie rock New Year’s Eve party is complete without playing Death Cab For Cutie’s “The New Year” at least twice. Mp3 download here.

Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund

I just put an ad up on donewaiting for information on how you can help with the Tsunami relief. I just read 80,000 are dead. I can’t even wrap my brain around this disaster.

Information can be found here on Google.

Amazon makes it real easy to donate to the Red Cross. I sent a donation in ten seconds, seriously.
