Audio Robots
Soundblaster was always my favorite Transformer.
So when I saw this post on Engaget, I nearly lost my brain. I mean, a fully functioning robot that transformed into real working stereo equipment? Dreams really do come true.
Here’s one of the lovely images:

Update on The Celebrity Pilots
Here’s a quick update on The Celebrity Pilots, the first band to be released on the donewaiting.com record label, Sunken Treasure Records.
We got a bunch of new press this weeks. Positive reviews in 1340mag.com and The Celebrity Cafe as well as an interview with uWeekly.
The band is playing a show Sunday at the High Five in Columbus OH with Merge Records/Elephant 6 heroes The Essex Green and Eric Metronome. Doors 8pm, music 9pm.
Finally, while the album has been on sale for awhile in a few online stores, we’ve recently added it to Amazon.com for those of you who only shop there.

The Walkmen Are Writing a Road Novel
I kid you not. It’s even gonna be like 300 pages.
Remember when the Walkmen found a larger fanbase when they used a song in a car commercial? Was it a Saturn? Whatever it was, I’m sure the hero of the book will be driving that model.

Bassist Zak Sally Leaves Low
The details can be found on Pitchfork.
I feel like Low is in the midst of a second wind, so hopefully they can keep up the momentum.

Back to school, again.
Rivers Cuomo is heading back to Harvard to finish his English degree…finally! However he will be forgoing the best part of the undergraduate experience since he’s taken a vow of celibacy. No, really. I’m not kidding.
“I decided to try celibacy because I heard it would help the meditation, and I tried meditation because I heard it would help with the music,” he said. “So, it all really comes back to the music.
“Listen to ‘Make Believe’ and compare it to the previous album, ‘Maladroit,”‘ he continued. “I know I can hear a difference in my singing. My voice just sounds much more sensitive and dynamic now. I also notice a difference in the lyrics. I’m much more open and communicative about my emotions now.” (full story)
So since he’s not having sex with anyone else he’s now more in touch with himself. That actually makes sense!
I’m so sophomoric sometimes.

New York’s K-ROCK Going Talk Radio in January 2006
I was listening to Howard Stern this morning when they announced that New York rock station 92.3 K-ROCK is going the talk radio route in 2006, after Stern leaves for satellite.
My question is, where will the people of New York and New Jersey listen to old Offspring songs? Will they no longer keep them seperated?
