Sometimes I forget that Beck put out an album this year. I wonder how soon it will be before I forget that he is releasing a remix of the entire album that will include a decent line-up of people.

The Fiery Furnaces in Columbus Two Weekends Ago
I was gonna write up a review but I figure this e-mail I wrote pretty much sums up my feelings about the show:
were you at the fiery furnaces show @ WEX on saturday? when i saw them a few months ago at little broz i loved their dense, maddening set that seemed like it wouldn’t end. this time around, i think i sorta hated the show. they seemed disconnected from the audience, and after a few songs when they said “ok, now we’re gonna play our new album that isn’t out yet” things went from bad to worse. i don’t think it was because i was unfamiliar with the songs that i really got bored quick.
so bored i left before the show was over. it was only $6 so i figure i got my money’s worth, but man, i was really disappointed.
love,
robert

God Lives Underwater founder dies
From Corporate Punishment Records:
I just received the devastating news that my brother and friend, and the first artist signed to Corporate Punishment, David Reilly, (who was also the singer and one half of one of the greatest and most underrated bands to ever exist, God Lives Underwater), passed away this morning, due to complications from longstanding stomach problems. David had his demons just like everyone, and he lived his life the best he could.
Yeah he fucked up, and when he fucked up it was usually big. But I am honored and humbled to have had the chance to work with someone like him, an amazing artist and visionary, who in my eyes will always be one of the most talented people to ever walk the Earth.
We had the amazing pleasure of releasing David’s first and only official solo recording “Inside” last year, which we worked extremely closely on, and he had recently signed a deal with Universal to release a new solo record. (You can hear some of these recordings on his myspace at www.myspace.com/cprdavidreilly) Unfortunately this will never happen, which may be one of the biggest travestiesof all. And although he will remain forever in our hearts, David will be sorely missed by everyone at CPR.
Rest in Peace.

Goodbye Bigger Lovers
Not sure how we missed this but according to an October 3 press release, The Bigger Lovers will be calling it quits with a final show scheduled for November 5 in Philly.
Drummer Patrick Berkery will continue to play with The Pernice Brothers, guitarist/vocalist Bret Tobias (who I interviewed last year) will play drums for Philly’s B.C. Camplight, guitarist Ed Hogarty is returning to Lefty’s Deceiver, and bassist/vocalist Scott Jefferson is starting the Diane Linkletter Experience back up “mainly as an excuse to create quirky flyers.”

Galaxyreno.com Open For Business
Clint Reno is more or less responsible to the overall look of the donewaiting.com universe. Doing our posters, logos, album covers, everything. He also does a ton of work for people in town and around the country.
He’s finally opened up his new website, Galaxyreno.com where you can see all of his posters and buy them for yourself.
Help a brother out.
Here’s his newest poster, from last night’s sold out Decemberists concert:

Hosting MP3s for Warner Bros.
From where I’m from, bandwidth don’t grow on trees. That’s why I wouldn’t really want to host an mp3 for a Warner Bros. band no matter how great I thought it was.
Others, however, think differently. Different strokes and all that.
