I think the best thing about the Video iPod announcement is that the rumors can finally die. Details here.

“You can’t tell if [the members of Sabbath] are farmers, wizards, hippies or members of a cult,” Coyne says. “It’s mysterious territory. Part of that, we really fell in love with. So, there are some tracks we’ve delved into production-wise, where we’re trying to get some of that heavy rock’n’roll with heavy guitar riffs, but not just to be aggressive. On the last couple of records, we’ve tried to be more expressive in beautiful ways. But sometimes, volume and intensity are great too.” (full story)

So yeah, surprise surprise, the New York Times loved a recent Sufjan Stevens concert. I loved his show a few weeks back when I saw him, too. But man, it’d be awesome to actually be surprised by a NYT review one day. It seems like every live review gets a positive review, leading to a really predictable music section. I’d love to be shocked out of my mind over something, but I don’t see that coming for awhile. Ah well, at least their reviews are writen well.
Moving along…
I love DJ Shadow and I love Obey Giant. So when I heard they were getting together for a special box set of joy, I almost lost my mind. (not really).
Finally, details revealed at obeydjshadow.com:
OBEY GIANT and DJ Shadow, acclaimed hip-hop and electronica artist, are proud to announce the release of this limited edition clothing and music project entitled “PUBLIC WORKS” This special box set includes five t-shirts, a brand new, full-length mix CD by DJ Shadow, a copy of Shepard Fairey’s book “Post No Bills”, stickers, buttons and other surprises. The PUBLIC WORKS box set is limited to 450 pieces, signed and numbered.
Speaking of Belle and Sebastian, You Ain’t No Picasso has an mp3 of a new song, “Another Sunny Day.” Me like.
By now you’ve probably seen this list of musicians who blog.
Someone want to buy me this shirt?

Stolen in Brooklyn after a Maxwell’s show.
At this point, someone could probably create a blog just about gear theft and have a lot to write about every week, unfortunately..

That’s what the rumors are saying.
Rumors are always true.

Okay, I could be off base here, and if that’s the case correct me in the comments. Follow me for a second.
This weekend the Bay Area is hosting the Download Festival, featuring a solid line-up including the Killers, Doves, Arcade Fire and more. There is a UK version of this festival, too.
The problem I have is the name. DOWNLOAD Festival. Seriously, what can you download? I spent a few minutes on the site, and you can’t even download mp3s of the bands playing the show. You can stream about 5 songs, but you can’t download them.
So can you download the live performances after the show? At the show? I don’t know. There’s no information stating that you can in the promo text, so I don’t think so.
When I go to an Orange Festival, I expect to buy oranges. When I go to a Hip Hop Festival, I expect hip hop. You get what I’m saying here.
