Wind-Up Records Responds to Wrens Back Catalog Situation

Awhile back we wrote about Wind-Up Records not releasing the back catalog of the Wrens to their current label, Absolutely Kosher. Instead, these albums sit in legal hell, not being available to anyone.

Well, our San Francisco writer Craig Ness contacted Wind-Up about it and this is what they told him:

A Wind-up company spokesperson commented, “Mr. Meltzer has always been a huge fan of the Wrens and congratulates both The Wrens and Absolutely Kosher Records on the remarkable success of “The Meadowlands” album. Wind-up is currently considering re-releasing several titles from the Grass catalogue in the very near future, including the two Wrens albums, “Secaucus” and “Silver”. We wish the band continued success.

We’ll see.

Graham, pick up the phone. PICK UP THE PHONE GRAHAM!

So it’s come to this, has it?

With no new Blur material imminent Damon Albarn told the NME that he wanted Graham Coxon to return to Blur before they made another album. “I’m waiting for Graham to talk to me again” Albarn said. “I’d love to see if we could make another record. I miss playing live in something that I grew up in. I do feel it’s a shame that we didn’t stick to it. Hopefully we’ll play together soon. As musicians we need to spread peace and love.” (full story)

Graham, please call Damon. I dig The Gorillaz but I’ve gotta hear some more guitar madness Blur-stylee. PLEASE?!

Fiona Apple Finally Gets Release Date

Many discussions have taken place about Sony not releasing the newly recorded Fiona Apple album, but it looks like it’s finally going to see the light of day on October 4.

Brooklyn Vegan has some good information. Looks like it’s going to be an all out blitz, including releases on iTunes, Myspace, the whole ball of wax.
