The Shins Will Change Your Life

The Shins Will Change Your Life is a blog that just quotes parts of album reviews that are a little over the top. No links, no commentary, just the parts of reviews that make them both great and terrible.

An example:

With no bad tracks here, Maria Taylor has produced a glorious record. On first listen there may not be much to distinguish it from the seemingly endless line of female singer/songwriters, but after a few plays the subtle nuances of the album work their way into your brain, and you’ll soon be wondering how you’ve lived so long without having these songs in your life.

And here’s the most interesting news: the special reprise of the Live 8 shows will run without commercials. (full story)

The Columbus Garage Rock Scene, circa 1966

While going through some old records he was recently given as a gift, Captain Exploder came across a little known compilation featuring garage rock bands from Columbus, OH. The album was recorded in 1966, and Mr. Exploder was kind enough to convert the vinyl to MP3s. Get all the mp3s here!

I love this sort of thing.
