London concerts postponed

Many shows have been cancelled or postponed due to this morning’s terrorist bombings (including shows by Queens of the Stone Age, Prodigy, and REM). More info here.

New Stars Video

See the new video for Stars’ “Reunion” here.

Man, I love this band. It’s that kind of love that hurts a little bit, too, you know. Ouch.

Trailer for Gus Van Sant’s Kurt Cobainish Film

The character is called Blake. He’s from Seattle. He kills himself. I think we know who he’s talking about here. Watch the trailer.

Hmm, looks sorta familiar:

Latest video from “Of Montreal”

Subterranean on MTV2 aired this video last week. I love the graphics.

Nine Inch Nails Video Directed by David Fincher

Watch it here. Windows Media file.

Not as good as you’d want it to be, in my opinion.

Update on the New Donewaiting.com Record Label

A few weeks ago I mentioned the launch of the new donewaiting.com record label, Sunken Treasure Records. Since then, we’ve been busy preparing our first release by The Celebrity Pilots, due out 9/13/05.

Two MP3s from the album that should immediately be downloaded, added to your mp3 player of choice and listened to several times: Lemons from Lemonade | We’ve Lost Kasparov

Today, a press release was sent out to commemorate the label and album. I know it’s not much, but for me it’s sorta cool. Check it out. Mr. Largehearted, I hope you don’t mind we quoted you. :)

As time goes on we’ll be announcing all the tourdates, so standby. In the meantime, check out the sweet album artwork by Clint Reno:

Win the new Tony Iommi CD

You might not know him by name but if you’ve listened to a CD or the radio in, oh, say, the last 20 years you’ve either heard one of his guitar licks or heard a guitar player who has been directly influenced by the Master of Darkness, Mr.Tony Iommi. As one of the founders of Black Sabbath, Iommi could very well be considered one of the godfathers of heavy metal guitar. His distinct style, mixed with Ozzy’s vocals, are a signature sound of ’70s heavy metal (shit, the guy is responsible for the music in songs like “Iron Man” and “Paranoid”).

In 1986 Iommi recorded an album (Seventh Star) with singer Glenn Hughes (ex-Deep Purple), bass Dave Spitz (brother of Anthrax’s Dan Spitz), keyboardist Geoff Nichols and drummer Eric Singer (Kiss). The record label, a little nervous with releasing a Tony Iommi solo record, insisted that the project be called “Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi.” This was where the working relationship between Iommi and Hughes was forged. In 1996 Iommi and Hughes hooked up to record the Dep Sessions. The CD didn’t see the light of day until last year. Iommi and Hughes hooked up once again in 2004 to record Fused, set to be released on July 12.

And, lucky for you, we’ve got 2 copies of the CD to give away.

It’s the Donewaiting/Atomic Ned Iommi “Fused” CD giveaway contest.

Here’s how you enter:
Guess the birth date and sex of my soon-to-be-born child. The 2 people who guess the correct date and sex will win a copy of the new Iommi CD, “Fused”. To prevent ties from happening, also include your guess as to the birth weight. This will be the tie-breaker should more than 2 people guess the correct date and sex. Here’s a few facts to help you out: Mrs.Atomic Ned’s due date is July 20. We have 2 daughters, both born before their due date — one born 10 days early, the other born 8 days early. We DO NOT know the sex of the baby so don’t ask for any hints.

Because the date of birth is up in the air, get your guesses in quickly as it could happen at any time. Only one guess per email address. Winners will be notified via email. This contest open to U.S. residents only.

Good luck and good guessing.

Hot Snakes Calling it Quits

“…So the rather sad news to report is that Hot Snakes will be packing it in after our current plans. It was a complete thrill to be part of and satisfied my insatiable hunger for sinister, throbbing action. Thank you to all that urged us along and leant (sic) an ear for us to abuse.” (full story)

Trivia: Which donewaiting.com column is named after a Hot Snakes song?

Is This the New iTunes Phone?

Engadget says yes. Or, at the very least it’s a Motorola phone using new iTunes mobile software.

Seems like there might be more than one phone like this coming out very soon.

Congratulations, Clint and Becky Reno

Over the weekend, Donewaiting.com Art Director (and all around great guy) Clint Reno married his sweetheart, Becky. We’re so very happy for them.

I’ve got a great photo of the wedding that you can see here. I didn’t want to shrink it down and post it on the blog.

You can see most of the artwork Clint has done for the website here.

(PS: The wedding photo was taken by Kim)
