Live 8 Downloads

Live 8 is over and everyone knows there’s poverty in the world. Now everyone wants to know: where can I download performances from the show?

Brooklyn Vegan’s got some good links for you. So does the largehearted boy.

Luther Vandross dead at 54

Legendary R&B artist Luther Vandross, whose smooth, silky voice gave soul to songs about life, love and relationships, died Friday. He was 54 years old.

The popular crooner suffered a debilitating stroke in April 2003. Even so, his album “Dance With My Father,” co-written with Richard Marx, sold nearly a million copies in its first month of release that June. The album won him four Grammy Awards, half his lifetime total, including song of the year.

Vandross died at JFK Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey at 1:47 p.m. ET, surrounded by family, friends and a medical support team, a statement from the hospital said. (full obit)

Donewaiting.com Now Accepts Comments and Trackbacks

Wow, accepting trackbacks and comments? Welcome to 2001, donewaiting.com.

I guess I originally had them turned off on the main blog because we have a very active message board that people use. But as time has moved on, I have a feeling that there are comments people and there are message board people, and very few crossover. Hopefully this will bring in additional discussions to the site.

IF you experience any issues with the setup, please send me an email. Thanks dudes.

Miranda Sound / J Robbins Recording Diary

Hush Records Offer 50 Song Compilation for $9.99 on iTunes

If you do the math, that’s like one penny for every song or something. (I’m bad at math!)

You can either download “Mile” via iTunes or buy a CD version via the Hush Website.

To commemorate our 50th release, HUSH has collected, not coincidentally, fifty unreleased, out of print and rare tracks from the various acts it has worked with since its inception in the late 90s. This enhanced CD takes advantage of the near ubiquity of jukebox software like iTunes and the proliferation of iPods by offering thirty-six high quality mp3 tracks (accessible via computer–just drag and drop) in addition to the fourteen songs which play on any standard CD player.

Hush Records was the same label that first brought the worlds the Decemberists, btw.

When I said the Clout Cult album’s title was “Happy Hippopotamus”, I really meant to say “Advice from the Happy Hippopotamus”. An honest mistake.

Also, voting for our podcast brings exposure to the show that we wouldn’t normally get. It will take a second of your time, and would mean the world to us.

PS: As a reminder, you do not need an ipod to listen to this. If you can play mp3s on your computer, you can listen to the show.

PS: Don’t foget about Donewaiting.com’s Podcast. It’s quite lovely.
