From slightly further left than leftfield, the Lucky Dog Studio announces that one of their first releases will be, er, Bonnie Prince Billy singing “Puff The Magic Dragon”.

Lucky Dog refused to confirm that a future release would be Steve Albini singing “Humpty Dumpty”.

When I lived in San Francisco for awhile, my favorite local band was The Orange Peels. Their music represented what California and the Bay Area to sounded like, in my mind.

Whenever I miss that part of my life, I pop in the Peels and it takes me back to that time. They’re so great.

They’ve got a new album coming out tomorrow, and you can hear some audio clips here. I can’t wait to get my hands on this.

After reports of a raid, it turns out that employees at the Mondo Kim’s on St. Mark’s were arrested for making illegal CDs and DVDs in a back room. The police took “hundreds” of illegally made discs during the afternoon raid, and charging five workers with trademark counterfeiting. (full story)
