Hiphopanonymous.net Gets it Right

Maybe because I overloaded myself with rock this past week that I’m turning to my other friend, hip hop, for the weekend updates.

Awhile back I put out a call looking for someone to write a hip hop blog, a few people wrote back, but they were more of the curious types. Not what I was looking for (and I promise I’ll write back to all of you soon). I wanted someone who lived, breathed, and swam in hip hop, both the music and the culture.

I’m still waiting for that person to contact me.

Until then, I’m going to be spending a lot of time on Hip Hop Anonymous. They’re reporting hip hop news and offering their opinions about what’s going on. This is not just a site that lists links: they’re taking what’s being reporting, digesting it, and offering their opinions. And that’s what matters. These guys obviously love the music, and that might be the most important point of all.

HipHopAnonymous.net is an attempt to embrace hip-hop culture by hunting down what is good and what is ridiculous. It is not only a supplement for listeners of the Hip Hop Anonymous radio show, but also a resource for any gelastic surfers looking for a different perspective on hip-hop. This is where mediocrity is pointed out to be made fun of, yet you’ll find that our finger is normally pointed at us.

Here’s a few things I learned from them that I never knew before:

  • Berklee College of Music: Get a Turntable Education
  • DMX to Retire

There’s a lot more, but I’ll let you go to their site to dig through it all. I’m adding this site to my bookmarks, and you should do the same.
