Ahh, yes. Another Tuesday, another great album to be released unto the world. The album in question is Yo La Tengo‘s “Summer Sun.”

I’ve been listening to it for some time now, and have really been enjoying it. For whatever reason, I always seem to equate different YLT albums with weather seasons or conditions. “And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out” was a winter record, “Painful” was autumn, “I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One” was a spring/early summer album.
“Summer Sun,” however, is a rainy day record. Somewhat quiet, somewhat lazy, but altogether beautiful.
I’m eager to see the band live again. They come through my town on Thursday. The last time I saw them was in November 2002 as part of their 11-show Hannukah run in Hoboken. The wait has been too long.
BONUS: Tuesday, April 8th, from 1-2 pm EDT, Ira will be doing a live chat on Washington Post.com. You can go there RIGHT NOW and ask a question. Make it happen.
