The Bridges and Tunnels Saga

Have you been reading Bridges and Tunnels lately? Stephen Mejias, who writes this NYC music blog for us here at donewaiting.com is writing a motherfucking saga over the last two weeks.

It was supposed to be an innocent review of two Columbus bands (Rancid Yak and Miranda Sound) who performed recently in NYC but has turned into something so much else. Here’s a SMALL taste:

The Rancid Yak Butter Tea Party put on a show that, to me, was like an hour-long version of some sort of ?Bohemian Rhapsody.? But a lot more Bohemian, and a lot more Rhapsody. A lot more everything. It?s fucked up. There?s a lot more metal. And a lot more punk. A lot more math. A lot more swing. A lot more soul. A lot more rhythm and blues. A lot more plain old rock. A lot more pretty. And a lot more ugly. I think there was even some jazz in there. Probably a lot of it, actually. There was a lot of ass-wiggling. A lot of noise. A lot of experimental weirdness. A lot more (and better) use of theremin than I?ve ever seen (including the time I saw Jon Spencer). A lot more a lot more.

The saga begins here. Read the entry, then scroll up to read the next one. Then the next. It’s really great stuff. When it’s complete we’ll give it special treatment on donewaiting.com, you bet.
