Everything was great. So many thanks, so much to say, but for now I sleep.

Yay for me! So sad for you.
Pitchfork scooped me on this one. I admit I didn’t even know about it, had heard nothing through the grapevine and was totally out of the loop on this one.
The Flaming Lips and The White Stripes are playing in Chicago for New Year’s Eve.
Yowza.

Indianapolis Knows The Deal
The first Donewaiting.com Field Studies show is tonight in Bowling Green! Tomorrow is Chicago, and Saturday is Indianapolis where Indianapolismusic.net has this to say about our show:
Have you heard the buzz about a music Web site that gets talented writers to contribute thoughts and reviews, opens a message board to more chatter, and throws shows with good bands? Nope, not tooting our own horn this time. We’re talking about Columbus, OH’s DoneWaiting.com. The site is bringing their “Field Studies Tour” to Indy on a good will mission to hook up with our music community. The show features Indy’s Loretta, Columbus’ Miranda Sound and Stepford Five, and Anderson, IN’s AM Drive. Check out the site at www.donewaiting.com (current home to the writings of IMN refugee-in-residence Danica “Moxy” Johnson) and check out the show.
The site does a weekly Top Ten Shows of the Week and we came in @ #4, ranking better than Papa M and Over the Rhine but not as good as Merle Haggard. Note to all: never fuck with Merle Haggard.

Matthew Jay Dead at 24
Twenty-four year old British singer/songwriter Matthew Jay fell from a seventh-story window yesterday in England in an apparent suicide. “His act would appear to have been an impulsive gesture following a professionally difficult year and perhaps, a difficult day,” said a statement. Jay’s 2001 release, Draw (Capitol Records), earned the musician many comparisons to Nick Drake and Jay spent a good part of that year touring with the Doves, Dido, the Stereophonics, and Starsailor.

Rock Over Chicago, Rock Over Indianapolis, Rock Over Bowling Green
One of the biggest ventures the site has ever taken part in, the donewaiting.com Field Studies Tour, kicks off Thursday in Bowling Green. Everyone involved is really excited about it, and we can’t wait to hit the road with some of our favorite bands.
But we need your help.
The three day donewaiting.com-sponsored tour visits Bowling Green, Chicago, and Indianapolis beginning Thursday. If you live in one of these cities, come out! If you have friends who live there, forward this e-mail on. If you run a
website, help us out with a link. Full information for each show is at the bottom of this message.
Like I’ve said, the purpose of this mini tour was to showcase two Columbus bands, Miranda Sound and The Stepford Five, with some of the best bands in
different cities. Each night is well worth the money, and a great opportunity to see what one piece of the Columbus music scene is all about and at the same time maybe learn about some bands in your own city that you weren’t aware of.
I’ll be at the Chicago and Indianapolis shows, so if you make it out please say hello. We love meeting the people that visit the site.
And thanks again, everyone, for your continued support of donewaiting.com and all that we’re trying to do. It means so much to us.

Soul on the road.
Cody ChesnuTT is quite possibly one of the most talented soul and/or rock and/or roll performers to come down the pike since Prince lost his marbles and drifted into irrelevance. Unfortunately the man seems to limit his appearances to either New York, L.A. or Europe but in October and November he?s actually braving the more central states here in the U.S. of A.
Better yet, musical chameleon The Incredible Moses Leroy is opening for ChesnuTT on a few dates. I caught this cat at SXSW about four or five years ago with a super stripped down band at a private party at about 11am and he still tore the roof of the joint. Later he reinvented himself in Beck?s image and went for the everything and the kitchen sink approach. These are shows not to be missed.
We have also included a few dates where Mr ChesnuTT is opening for the incredibly bland John Mayer just in case Mr ChesnuTT and Mr Leroy ain?t makin? it to your ?berg. Don?t worry, Mr ChesnuTT will spice up the night enough to make up for ten John Mayers.
October
10/29 – San Diego – Belly Up Tavern +
10/30 – San Francisco – Bimbos +
10/31 – Santa Monica – Temple Bar +
November
11/6 – Detroit Rock City – Magic Bag +
11/8 – Indianapolis – The Patio +
11/9 – Iowa City – Hawkeye Arena **
11/10 – Chicago – Hard Rock Caf? +
11/11 – Columbia, MO – Hearnes Center **
11/12 – Omaha, NE – Qwest Center **
11/14 – Oklahoma City – Cox Convention Center **
11/15 – Little Rock – Alltel Arena **
+ Headlining w/special guest The Incredible Moses Leroy
** Opening for John Mayer

Back, Prepared To Be Patted
From this week’s Columbus Alive:
Duffy for Prez in 2004?
If you haven?t tuned into Donewaiting.com in the last 12 months you?re either completely computer illiterate or living under the rock instead of in it. It seemed a challenge when he started, but Robert Duffy Jr.?s experiment to document the goings-on of the entire Columbus music scene has resulted in a successful and oft-frequented website.
His state of the union address (in his ?OH! Columbus? column) is pretty comprehensive, reading like a ?cheers and jeers? commentary on his virgin year in town. In it he gives much respect to his favorite band Miranda Sound, his new favorite club Caf? Bourbon Street, and local press (thanks man) and radio. The drama that occurred at the High Five gets the only unanimous ?boo.? And if there?s one thing Duffy could change, it?s the start times of weeknight shows, preferring earlier to later for the nine-to-fivers who still love cold beer.
With even more planned for next year, including a bevy of sponsored gigs showcasing Columbus bands out of town, Duffy may as well crown himself the all-knowing, all-doing chief of High Street. May I suggest Joel Treadway, of Cringe.com, as his running mate?
If you’d like to apply for a cabinet position, make your bid known.

The Onion Interviews Belle & Sebastian
Or, to be more specific, they interview Stuart Murdock from the band.
O: How much of your songwriting is autobiographical?
SM: I just got this image in my mind of a cake, of writing songs being like baking a cake. The autobiographical part of things is like the flour, and the romance side of things and the fantasy part are like the sugar and eggs. By the time you’re done mixing it all together, it’s hard to tell which is which. When you write a song, it just comes out. There’ll be little strands of it, and some are of biography, and some are things that have happened or that you think about. (full interview)
