Kill Bill Soundtrack Info

“Kill Bill” will rule the world, for that I am sure. The soundtrack is looking pretty good, too.

Sneak Preview: Manda and the Marbles Interview

David of Houston Calling did an interview with Manda of Manda and the Marbles to preview their show in Houston on September 1 with meoWcifer at Mary Jane’s Fat Cats club. If you live in the Houston area, please be sure to go support not only great local rock BUT also a Donewaiting Columbus favorite, Manda and the Marbles.

Here’s a sneak preview of what you’ll be able to read tomorrow:

What do consider to be your musical influences?

My musical influences vary widely–I have multiple personalities when it comes to music. I grew up listening to Duran Duran, the Eurythmics, the Bangles,
and Sinead O’Connor. Then I went through a Guns and Roses phase, which was followed by a Cure, NIN, Helmet, Fugazi phase. Then I started to get into Jane’s Addiction, Mazzy Star, Jesus and the Mary Chain, and Hole. So it’s all over the map I guess! And I still enjoy listening to all of that music. But recently I have been listening to bands like Missing Persons, 999, and Suburban Lawns.

And now you see why we love Manda!

Watch: New Rapture Video

Here’s a real fun video by The Rapture that you can watch video Real Video. For their song “House of Jealous Lovers.”

The Rapture came through town awhile back and I missed them. Everyone there said the show was really something special.

Their new album hits stores October 21.

Things that make you go hmmmm….chapter 1584

What does it say when I find pictures of Duffy’s puppy more interesting that the menage a trois de la Xtina, BTnY and Ha-Ha-Hot-Madona?

Volumes, my friend. It says volumes.

Madonna Kisses Britney, Madonna Kisses Christina

Even this blue blooded all American boy thought it was weird to see grandma Madonna kiss the young Christina and Britney. (Not that it won’t stop me from posting the images)

MTV VMA03: Thank God It’s Over

We had big plans.

I was going to assemble a large donewaiting.com blogging team to cover every aspect of the Video Music Awards. The problem was the idea came to me late, and most of my go-to guys were not on the East Coast. So we kept it small. It was a good thing.

I love the Video Music Awards in theory, but most of the time they disappoint. Like last night. By the end I was falling asleep, barely able to keep my eyes open as the boring award show continued to roll on. Even Chris Rock couldn’t save it. Even Coldplay couldn’t save it.

But, like a lemming, I’m looking forward to next year’s.

MTV VMA03: Atomic Ned’s Rating

The MTV Video Music Awards have never been all that good but this year’s show was plain awful. Very few memorable moments. What I did learn is that MTV is more responsible for the death of rock than downloaders are. I didn’t count but there were far more dancers that graced the stage than guitar players. And what the hell was with Metallica’s medley of covers?

Atomic Ned’s rating of the 2003 VMAs (out of 10): 2 (And I don’t even know why I’m giving it any points — Mary J. Blige, if it wasn’t for you, my rating would probably be 0)

MTV VMA03: Hee Haw

The Crank Yankers make a Donkey Punch reference. SWEET. Ask Chris from Mrs.Children to tell you what that means sometime. (Mrs.Children has played a few shows with a Michigan band named Donkey Punch.) I swear, if there is a reference to Rusty Trombone I’ll go crazy.

MTV VMA03: One Hour Later

Nothing interesting to report. Slowly falling asleep. Good thing I have my puppy to jump on my head to keep me awake.

MTV VMA03: Plug Tally

Following bands have improperly plugged their upcoming albums:

Nelly
Outkast
Iggy Pop
