Beer, brats and the motherfrickin' rock and/or roll!
Hmm. Didn’t see this one coming. Every year Milwaukee has this Summerfest thing. Usually it’s sort of a step away from going to a county fair only with more fat kids and more beer but occasionally it’s cool. Like when I saw Pearl Jam there as one of their few dates of that whole anti-Ticketmaster tour that jumped the tracks after a few shows because, well, Ticketmaster sucks. Now Clear Channel sucks.
But I digress.
This year I don’t know what crawled into their beer but the organziers have actually rounder up a pretty impressive roster of talent featuring, but not limited to, the following artists.
Prince
Liz Phair
Kid Rock
Buddy Guy
Blink 182
Tim McGraw
Paul Oakenfold
Nickelback with 3 Doors Down
Britney Spears
John Mayer
Crosby, Stills & Nash, 311
Jason Mraz
Christina Aguilera
Tesla
The Darkness!!!!!
Wow wow wow! Do you think Xtina, Britney and Liz will all do a striptease? What are the chances of Tesla and The Darkness doing a duet of “Signs?” What are the chances Prince is just going to blow everyone away?
It all goes down in Milwaukee, WI from June 24 through July 4, 2004 and more details can be found here.

It is Spring: May 7th @ Uncle Joe’s
A Donewaiting.com / TheApetown.com Production
Friday, May 7th at Uncle Joe?s ? 154 First Street, sunny Jersey City
Crayon Rosary
The Slow Wire
Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer
Guest DJ: Jason Small of XOXO Records
9pm. $5.
We played our fair share of shows. Back in the MPS days, that is. We played some real depressing shows, some real thrilling shows. Most of the shows fell somewhere in between. All of the shows were fun in some way. Even if only for the car rides, the conversations on the way to the venue, or the meals afterwards.
On May 7th, at Uncle Joe’s, I feel fortunate to be able to host two bands that I actually enjoyed playing with. Back in the MPS days, that is. The Slow Wire – who we share time with on a Reinforcement Records compilation – and Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer – who we met somewhere down in the darkness and gravel of Pennsylvania, at an event that was more like a prom or a blood drive than a rock show. But, hey. We had a good time.
I miss those days. But these days are good, too. And this Friday, May 7th, will be especially good. Joining The Slow Wire and Zolof will be a band called Crayon Rosary, who I have only recently become familiar with. They were brought to me by another old friend, another who has shared memories of long drives and heavy lifting: Jason Small. We know Jason from his time spent in the band, Fortunato; a band that we were always happy to play with. Jason has moved on and started his own record label, XOXO. And Crayon Rosary call it home.
This Friday, Uncle Joe’s will be home to all of us as we reunite, shake hands, drink up, laugh, rock, and dance like mad.

Songwriter/Record Producer Ritchie Cordell Dead At 61
Next to Kim Fowley, this was the most important figure in the history of bubblegum rock. He worked with Tommy James, Bow Wow Wow, Joan Jett, the Ramones, and many others. Rock and Roll Heaven just got a little more fun.Ritchie holds the rare distinction (shared only with the Beatles) of having two of his songs (already million sellers years before) – “I Think We’re Alone Now” sung by Tiffany and “Mony Mony” sung by Billy Idol – follow one another in the #1 & # 2 positions in Billboard, and the next week reverse positions. Search Engine Ha Ha
A lot of people find their way to our site through strange searches in Google. Because of the way the internet works, I can see what searches led them here. This one made me laugh out loud though: “conor oberst fans are shy losers”.

Snow Patrol Mania
Donewaiting.com writer Chip Midnight has been loopy over the new Snow Patrol album for some time. Here’s the evidence. Anyway, over on his other site, Swizzle-Stick.com, Chip has interviewed the lead singer of the band and you can read it here. I can garuntee you won’t find these questions (and answers) anywhere else.
