The Frames cancel all SXSW appearances

One of the first bands we reported would be playing this year’s SXSW festival, The Frames, has cancelled their numerous day shows and evening showcase.

Lead singer Glen Hansard is the lead actor in an independent film called Once and apparently the film’s success at the Sundance Film Festival requires that he go into the studio to finish up some songs for the film’s soundtrack thus the reason for the SXSW cancellation.

Here is a trailer for the film.

  1. A few of my picks to see cancelled last week. As well as The Frames, The Diableros had to pull out – they were my tip for big breakthrough. Then the great Argentine group BandoJamanCrudo (BJC) disappeared from the schedules. Finally South African’s finest, The Wild Eyes, also disappeared from the set lists. As all four were in my to see picks, it just frees up time for four more acts. Pity about The Frames, guess the rest of th egroup who are not “actor” will be a little miffed. But a big bonus was seeing the quiet addition of Lee “Scratch” Perry to the schedule.

  2. Thanks for the heads up on Lee Perry! I wonder if the Upsetter will be doing any day parties…

  3. Flamingo Cantina, Saturday Night / Sunday Morning 1am. Great way to close out a week of festivities.

  4. Would you know of any unofficial showcases at SXSW looking to fill a slot with a really impressive, up and coming artist? I can email more info about the artist immediately. I would appreciate it any help you offer.

    Many Thanks,
