Pitchfork is headed to Texas in a big way. Continuing a six-year tradition of celebrating great music and hot weather in Austin, we’re proud to present a series of events taking place all over town March 15-18. On top of working with SXSW to organize two official showcases, we’re also throwing an Austin version of #Offline over two afternoons. All events are free; evening (official) showcases require badges.
Tuesday, March 15: Pitchfork @ SXSW Interactive (Emo’s; 9 p.m.- 2 a.m.)
Our first official SXSW showcase will take place at Emo’s, located at 603 Red River St., on Tuesday, March 15, during SXSW Interactive. Artists include Surfer Blood, Gold Panda, Anna Calvi, Mount Kimbie, and more. The showcase will celebrate the premiere of Pitchfork 3D, brought to you by Intel, and will also introduce the Kill Screen Arcade– starring Twisted Pixel, No Fun games, and Adam Atomic. Special thanks to Colossal Squid.
Thursday-Friday, March 17-18: #OFFLINE
(East Side Drive In; 12 p.m.-7 p.m.)
#Offline will take at the East Side Drive-In, located at 1001 E. 6th St., on Thursday, March 17 and Friday, March 18, from noon to 7:00 p.m. Thursday’s lineup features Smith Westerns, J Mascis, Dum Dum Girls, OFF!, Dom, Mount Kimbie, and more. Friday features Toro Y Moi, Owen Pallett, Edwyn Collins, Cass McCombs, and more. Friday will be webcast live, thanks to the Focus Features film Hanna. Special thanks to Puma, Musicians Institute, Brooklyn Brewery, and Vitamin Water.
