I Said Gorilla, Not Gorillaz

What else can I say?
“Koko, California’s famous “talking” gorilla, is breaking into song. The 31-year-old lowland gorilla, who is said to have mastered some 1,000 terms in American sign language, has “written” lyrics for a new album which should be available by the end of the week, her keepers said.”

Pete Yorn’s Second Album Almost Complete

Pete Yorn is wrapping up his second record with Peter Buck. Read about it. I loved his first record, hated his live show, and am looking forward to this next album. Just don’t expect me at the tour.

Note to all rock and rollers all over the world: don’t turn on the house lights after every song to get a reaction from the audience. Please.

Me and Tori Amos, Back Together Again

For the last two years, I’ve kinda hated Tori Amos. Up until then, I loved her. I’d seen her live about 6 times, and loved all of her albums. Until, of course, To Venus and Back and Strange Little Girls. They didn’t work for me. And it made me sad, because I knew Tori could be better.

So when her new record came out last week, I was hesitant. I mean, she wronged me twice in a row, and what about that saying, shame on you/shame on me? Was Tori to make me a sucker three times in a row?

But then I thought about the good ol’ days of me and Tori records, and all of the happiness they brought… I bit the bullet, figuring if it really sucked then I’d sell it back to Used Kids for a buck and be happy.

I bought the record. I LOVE THE RECORD. All is forgiven. You need to own it, too, and rediscover Tori all over again.

Jurassic 5 rocks DC From

Jurassic 5 rocks DC

From Hank Mobley, donewaiting relative:
“J5 understand that they are performing for you. They involve the crowd in multiple sing-alongs, bring constant energy, and have NO dead space. They mix multiple songs together, and do songs from every album. They have an unbelievably intricate rhyme style where they flow in and out of each other’s rhymes.”
