Crikey. I already have the Stereophonics and Quasi. Quasi’s new album, Hot Shit is indeed Hot Shit. The Stereophonics is pretty good, too, still digesting.

I’ll be buying many on this list. I’ll be going broke. What about you?

Random Observation

I’d say that I hate 80% of music blogs.

Donewaiting.com Opens Up Los Angeles Branch

It was only a matter of time until we rolled our wagons west and opened up a Los Angeles arm of donewaiting.com. Many people asked for it, and it was a personal goal of mine as well.

We’re thrilled as a monkey to present Han Q Duong’s I Hate The Kids column here on DW. We’ve known Han for over a year, and it thrills us to know end to have him a part of donewaiting.com.

So please, check out his new column and then wish him happy birthday in the message board.

Warren Zevon Died Last Night

As you’ve seen over the last few weeks, I really love Warren Zevon. This was expected, but still pretty sad.

This will be the first and only update on donewaiting.com today.

Don’t let us get sick
Don’t let us get old
Don’t let us get stupid, all right?
Just make us be brave
And make us play nice
And let us be together tonight

The sky was on fire
When I walked to the mill
To take up the slack in the line
I thought of my friends
And the troubles they’ve had
To keep me from thinking of mine

Don’t let us get sick
Don’t let us get old
Don’t let us get stupid, all right?
Just make us be brave
And make us play nice
And let us be together tonight

The moon has a face
And it smiles on the lake
And causes the ripples in Time
I’m lucky to be here
With someone I like
Who maketh my spirit to shine

Don’t let us get sick
Don’t let us get old
Don’t let us get stupid, all right?
Just make us be brave
And make us play nice
And let us be together tonight
— Warren Zevon

donewaiting/New York: Longest Single Entry Ever On This Website

Donewaiting.com New York City Writer Stephen Mejias has written the longest one-shot ever in the history of donewaiting.com. Clocking in at over 4,300 words he goes into a lot of things, from bringing his band to Columbus to his alcoholic father to bed bugs.

I don?t even know where to begin. Other stories have begun that way, I know, and I don?t mean to write other stories. But, really. I really don?t know where to begin. September came and had its way with things, it seems. But things started even before September came and had its way. (full story)

It’s a long one, well worth the read. Go grab yourself a soda pop, give it a bookmark, and spend time with it.

  • When you’re finished, feel free to discuss here, in our message board.
  • Durst Watch Math

Besides being the donewaiting.com humor column, Durst Watch also does some math regarding Great White.

Randy “Macho Man” Savage Recording Hip Hop Album

Yes, the WWF WWE wrestler is recording a hip hop album. Can you believe it? Me neither. It will probably mean the end of the entire hip hop genre, destroying the past present and future. God help us. God help us.

    Some lyrics:

“Mr. Perfect’s the name that will never be forgotten,” he rhymes. “As long as Macho’s around, I’mma keep your spot in/ Wrestling history, ’cause you were all about perfection/ … You were one of the best, very high on my list/ Not just in the ring, but out of the ring, you’re dearly missed.”

Maybe this is some sort of Punk’d version for bloggers like me. Surely this can’t be real. Please Jesus, let it not be real.

Which Album, Song Or Band Definined Your Summer 2003?

Maybe you’re like me. You have a song, or band, or album that really defined your summer of 2004. For me, that album would be Spoon‘s “Kill the Moonlight.”

I was really late coming into the Spoon game. I didn’t know anything about the band until this year, jumping on the bandwagon long after everyone else. But that’s okay. Since then I’ve grown to love the band, seeing them live once and starting to collect their entire back catalog.

This summer I spent countless hours replaying Kill the Moonlight at work, in the car, at home, wherever. The album came with us when we were vacationing in San Francisco, it came with us to New York City and NJ. It was everywhere. It’s such an amazing record, I hope you own it, too. In fact, Time Magazine just declared Spoon “your new favorite band”.

But that’s my summer record. What about you? Was there one band that you played nonstop althrough the warm summer months? Was Beyonce’s “Crazy In Love” the song you played to death? I want to know. Please, share us your pick in the message board.

  • If you already have Kill the Moonlight, you might want to beef up your collection with the new Spoon EP, The Way We Get By. It features 3 videos and 6 live songs. I ordered it from 12xu in England and got it within two weeks. It’s great.
