Wanna See a Crappy Video For a Crappy Song By a Crappy Band for Hopefully a Great Movie?

P.O.D’s video for their song, “Sleeping Awake”, viewable here. Song sucks, video sucks. Kind of like how bad those Matrix tie-in commercials that feature that soda and that beer. Lots of suckage.

Hopefully the movie won’t be as bad as all these other things.

MP3 of the Weekend: The Walkmen’s “No Christmas While I’m Talking (Live)”

Not only is this the first time I’ve been able to hear what The Walkmen sound like live, it’s also a new song! Here you go: No Christmas While I’m Talking, live from London. If you don’t own their album, Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me is Gone, you really should. Many people love it on our website.

donewaiting/chicago: Tankboy Reviews Ted Leo

Tankboy returns with his review of a Ted Leo concert in Chicago:

Ted Leo hit the stage like a preacher on a mission and threw the room into a revivalist frenzy. Suddenly it was 1965 no 1982 no 1978 no 2003 and all the kids were dancing and clapping and behaving in a way totally unbecoming to this usual snootiest of indie crowds. While Ted occasionally strained for notes at the highest ends of his range such physical limitations were fully overcome by an outstandingly vigorous stage show led by random tambourine banging, syncopated and so complicated it seemed simple drumming and the bounciest rhythms on display that evening this side of the Mississippi. (full review)

And in case you missed it last week, here’s our Ted Leo in Cleveland review.

Justin Timberlake: Sports Correspondent

Umm:

Timberlake’s new job as a sportscaster will find him reporting from a variety of sports events for TNT, including the NBA regular season and playoffs, NASCAR races and the PGA Championship. For TBS, he’ll appear at major-league baseball games and Big 12 and Pac-10 college football games. (full story)

Ribbit ribbit.

Have you seen it yet?

I finally caught it last night and really enjoyed it, although I thought the film ran a bit short. Nonetheless, required viewing for music geeks, all of you. Get showtimes and more information here or buy the soundtrack there.

Warren Ellis’ Review of Blur’s New Record

Warren Ellis is my favorite writer of comics books. He has a lot to say about many things, including the new Blur album. From his newsletter, BAD SIGNAL:

The new Blur album is really, really bad. The next one could well be brilliant. THINK TANK feels like a dry run for a “real” album. Turns out “Don’t Bomb When You’re The Bomb” was an accurate indicator of the album after all. Sadly, the most listenable piece on the CD is the one that has Graham Coxon’s last contribution, a sort of Joe Meek post-rock. Skip this, come back for the next one, when they’ve gotten a grip on what they’re trying to achieve.

Did you buy it? Tell us about it. We’re curious.
