Where’s the Buzz

Steve Miller, writer of donewaiting.com UK music column, England Made Me, offers up a really funny account about a friend’s brother’s band who is getting some buzz out in England but is completely impossible to get a hold of. Read and enjoy.

Coachella Beats Field Day

I was many of the people who did go loopy over the Field Day festival announcement. It’s a pretty good show.

But seriously, let’s be honest here. This year’s Coachella festival crushes Field Day as far as the amount of bands, the diversity, and overall presentation. Crushing them.

I’ll be at neither.

Durst Watch All Points Bulletin!

Fred Durst scrapping the entire Limp Bizkit album and starting new? What the F? Join us for a very important Durst Watch. This guy really is loopy.

Idlewild Interview

Chip Midnight’s interview with Idlewild can now be read over on Alive. Here’s one quote from the band regarding their slow and steady success:

It?s more natural than coming over and being an overnight success and immediately selling out massive venues. I?d rather do it in a more natural way because that?s what happened in Britain with the band. At first people wrote us off and we kept writing songs and putting out albums and eventually people gave us credit for what we did. It was like that there so I don?t really expect it to be any different in the States. We don?t have any massive expectations. We never have expectations, because you can only be disappointed with them. (full interview)

I have my tickets already for the 6/19 show. The idea of seeing these two bands together gives me much pleasure. Sort of like when I saw The White Stripes and Strokes together in Detroit last year, or the Beck and Flaming Lips tour, or that show with Spoon and Crooked Fingers.

Donewaiting.com Live Review: Zwan in Houston

We here at donewaiting.com are pleased to offer our third review of Zwan in concert. First, it was Columbus. Then we reviewed Cleveland’s show. And now, David Cobb brings us a Houston breakdown:

The band was happy. I mean, visibly happy. As an avid reader of music press, I have seen a lot about the rise and fall of the Pumpkins. It was very odd to see Billy Corgan smiling throughout the show. Odd, but great. He interacted with the crowd and with his new bandmates, and seemed genuinely glad to be doing it. Nothing pains me more than to see some new rock pretender acting like they’d rather be on the bus when a roomful of people just paid $20 to see them play. (full review)

You can read the Columbus review here and the Cleveland review here.

Polyphonic Spree Tourdates, continued

The second leg of the Polyphonic Spree tour has been announced and our buddy Chip Midnight has posted the dates on his donewaiting.com column, Atomic Ned.

They’re not coming anywhere near me, Robert Duffy, but maybe they’re comin g to your city. As Tankboy told us in his donewaiting.com column, they put on a great show.

Volume II: What Are You Listening to Right This Second?

After 265 replies, it is time to retire the first volume of “What are you listening to right this second?” in the message board.

It’s become obese.

However, I’m now opening volume 2 of the thread. Start fresh. Turn over a new leaf. That sort of thing. So please, tell us. What are you listening to right this second?

K-Rock, Duh

Charlesworth, writer of donewaiting.com’s Durst Watch, just exposed New York’s K-ROCK for the lameness that they are. Go. Read.

I know Chazz is a big K-ROCK fan so it had to hurt him to write that.
