Early *NEW* Black Sabbath Material Found

This is sure to guarantee a 9th season of The Osbournes:

The unofficial BLACK SABBATH site has confirmed via sources at guitarist Tony Iommi’s management company the existence of newly-uncovered early recordings by BLACK SABBATH back when they were still called EARTH. (full story)

I just listened to some early pre-Van Halen songs by the band before they were signed, and it’s strange to say the least. And isn’t there some new Beatles stuff that have just been discovered?

Old is the new new.

Apple Reportedly in Talks to Buy Universal Music

We wrote about Apple yesterday, but this news is really big big big:

In a pairing that would alter the architecture of the music business, Apple Computer Inc. is in talks with Vivendi Universal to buy Universal Music Group, the world’s largest record company, for as much as $6 billion, sources said. (full story)

If this does happen, it’s really going to change how technology and music work together.

New iPods Coming Soon

I don’t own an iPod just yet. Mainly because I don’t have a Firewire connection to my PC, and I’m not sure if I’d use it as much as I should. However, according to this article, there are new iPods coming towards the end of the month with many new features, including:

USB 2.0 support has also been added to the iPod.
USB 2.0 support has also been added to the iPod.

Amazing Photo!

Here is a photo I took of The Honey’s drumkit last night:

Yes, this photo is sorta weak, but I took it via the camera plug-in to my T-Mobile Sidekick. Supposedly there’s a better camera in the works, but this does the job for what I want it to do right now.

NJ Record Store Also Sells Sex

You won’t get this kind of service at your local Best Buy:

Undercover detectives closed a Monroe Street record store Wednesday that served as a front for a prostitution operation run out of its bathroom, authorities said. Dressed as hookers, pimps and johns, police raided the La Nueva Esperanza record shop. They arrested eight people on charges of solicitation, including a Long Island woman who allegedly offered to perform a sex act for $25, said Detective Andy White, a department spokesman. Eight men who propositioned a plainclothes female officer were also charged. (full story)

The Local H “Situation”

There was a confrontation between Local H and a fan at their Columbus show last night, and our very own Chip Midnight was right there to watch it happen:

At some point, one of the guys who was part of this pit was shoved and crashed into Scott Lucas?s microphone, knocking the mic into Scott?s face. This is where time froze, where my heart rose into my throat, where visions of Axl Rose and Sebastian Bach (when he threw a bottle at somebody in the crowd) entered my head. Scott dove from the stage into the crowd like a linebacker trying to sack a quarterback. (full story)

I always miss the good stuff.

Here and There

Two lunch time purchases were made:

Trail of Dead: The Secret of Elena’s Tomb EP
The Kills: Keep On Your Mean Side

Last night I saw The Honey’s and Jucifer (sorta). You can read what I wrote about the show right here. I didn’t stick around for Local H, but Chip Midnight did, and later today he’ll be writing about it on the donewaiting.com column, Atomic Ned. Someone got into a fight with the lead singer during the show, is what I’ve been told.

It could have been Billy Peake. But it probably wasn’t.

Tonight, I’m going to see Yo La Tengo at The Factory. I am excited. Very excited.

Viva La Avril Revolution!

You can join the Avrilution here. The site claims to be legit:

If you’re tired of MTV telling you what’s cool…
If you don’t like that there is music you never get to hear because your radio station doesn’t get paid to play it…

If your favorite TV show got cancelled because some executive didn’t think it was “hip” enough… Always keepin’ it Av-Real, she licks her MTV award in defiance! …join the Avrilution and take back control!

I always had a sneaking suspicion that there was a connection between Avril and Che.
