The Return of Headbanger’s Ball?
Sure to make Atomic Ned and many people happy:
It seems as though MTV is readying to resurrect the classic metal show, Headbanger?s Ball, although this time it will be on MTV2, and hosted by Juliya of Much Music USA. More details as it becomes confirmed.

Aereogramme Double Down Review
I wrote up a very small review of last night’s Aereogramme show on OH Columbus! but Chip Midnight comes through with an epic of a review over on Atomic Ned. We both agree about one thing, though, the show was great. Hopefully you’ll see them in your town.
Here’s a sample of Chip’s review:
Aereogramme hits the stage with a bang. The Scotsmen are all sporting facial hair and don?t really look like rock stars (but then again, neither do the members of Sigur Ros, Mogwai, etc.). Craig B, with a full red beard, is both intense and humorous throughout the set. During the songs, he sings with his eyes squeezed shut, veins protruding from his neck. He gently embraces the microphone like a lover, careful not to be too rough with it even when screaming to the point of turning bright red in the face. (full review)
Well done.

You Can Buy A Piece of Donewaiting.com
I don’t know how we became involved, but we are. This is some sort of online game that may or may not be fun. Nonetheless, we’re a part of it.
Hopefully donewaiting.com won’t be the Baltic Avenue of Blogshares.

System of a Down Video Controversy
Wondering why you’re not seeing the great new Michael Moore directed System of a Down video on MTV or MuchMusic? Journalist Bill Werde did some digging:
The truth is much more insidious than a couple of channels worried about offending viewer sensibilities. In the case of Much Music USA, I was contacted–on the record, but anonymously–by an employee of the channel who told me that the day that Much Music was planning to air the video, word came down from the top that “Boom!” was not to be played. But “the top,” in this case, wasn’t programming directors, concerned about content. Rather, it was the ad sales department. My Much Music Deep Throat explained that the U.S. Army was a major advertiser on the channel. (full story)

Madonna’s Career is Dead! Long Live Madonna’s Career
So says the New York Times at least:
Music promoters say that marketing Madonna to teenagers and young adults is difficult because most people in those age groups do not like to listen to the same music their parents do. Madonna, 44, is the same age or older than the parents of the target demographic of most record companies, they say. Her fan base is now made up mostly of people older than 25 and gay listeners, though she has retained a large international following. (She lives in Britain with her two young children and Mr. Ritchie.) (full story)
I’ve never been much of a fan of Madonna, although I did enjoy the movie “Dick Tracy.”

Billboard Face-Lift
Billboard‘s website got a redesign today. I’m a fan of their site, as they tend to get a lot of music news out fast.
Don’t know if the redesign makes the site better or worse, but they have added a few more columns.

Durst Watch Grows Up
In the fine tradition of such spin-offs as The Jeffersons, Angel and The Real World/Road Rules Challenge, it is time for our special feature, Durst Watch, to leave the comforts of the donewaiting.com main page and go on its own.
Charlesworth is now running Durst Watch in its own corner of the site, keeping a watchful eye on Fred and every other music celebrity that lose their mind. It will be a fun and frightening adventure. Clicky clicky.
And remember! After you visit Durst Watch, head on over to Charlesworth’s other site, Sports Frog from some sports goodness.
