The White Stripes Speak

From Jack White’s brilliant, confusing mouth:

i’m very sad at some of you for peeking at you christmas presents before christmas morning, can’t you wait? i can, well i do, we want you to have it when we want you to have it, it’s unfair that some get a taste and confuse others before they have the chance to have it for themselves, but the devil is at work here and you will pay for your impatience. this world of have it now, millisecond attention span and gross neglect for quality is getting old. i’m getting old too, watch me slowly die. meg coughed today. Click on that link, the whole message from Jack is really entertaining. Learn who he had to kick out of his bathtub, and what Meg White recommends you do to your mothers.

With bands like Train and Pearl Jam cutting to the chase, one might start to wonder: will more established bands starting leaving their big honking record labels and start D.I.Y? Could be interesting.

Fire and Death, continued.

The Providence Journal is doing excellent coverage of the fire that has killed OVER NINETY PEOPLE. Go there. (You’ll have to register to read a lot of stories)

  • More Fire and Death

Someone tell me how the fuck fifty eighty five people die in a nightclub in one night? And it happens twice in one week?

I was at a show just last night. I know I don’t pay attention to things such as emergency exits, fire alarms, sprinklers. I’m sure you don’t either. Because we figure that the venues that we love and support and give are money to care enough about these things.

    Maybe we’re wrong.

    donewaiting.com featured in USA Today

Our site got a mention on USA Today. That’s really freaking cool.

I gotta find this “Kiesha Jenkins” and show her some love. Hopefully this won’t make our egos any bigger than they already are.

Introducing the First Ever donewaiting.com Contest!

Yep, that’s donewaiting.com’s very own Chip Midnight when he was a young tough, getting autographs from all the heavy metal/glam metal bands he could get his small hands on.

To celebrate this, Chip is running a donewaiting.com contest! Guess who he’s posing with and win a prize. Full details here!

This Is So Dumb It Must Be True

    Offered without comment:

According to reports, producers at Fox TV have decided Mister Ed would be more marketable and popular if the talking horse adopted hip-hop lingo. (full story)

Seriously, the world did need a new Mr. Ed TV show.

    A Mighty Wind

From the people who brought you “Best in Show” and “Waiting for Guffman” comes “A Mighty Wind“, a new mockumentary about the reunion of a folk band from the 60s.

You can watch the trailer here. This looks so great. So great. (thanks Kiesha!)

    Pete Yorn Tour

When I saw Pete live last year, all of the stage lighting would flash the audience after every song to get a reaction from the crowd.

This trick is cool once per show.

Hopefully, he won’t be doing the same thing on his upcoming tour.

What do recent live shows of Beck, Ted Leo and J Mascis Have in Common?

They’re all reviewed/discussed in one form or another @ donewaiting.com’s Bridges & Tunnels column by Stephen Mejias. Go. Read. Now.
