Go the Distance

I’ve journeyed from NJ to Boston to see Smashing Pumpkins. From Columbus to Chicago for Belle and Sebastian, from Columbus to Detroit for The Strokes/The White Stripes co-headlining show.

But in 2003 I’ll be travelling the farthest distance for a concert yet: 3,732 miles across the Atlantic ocean to see Coldplay in Manchester UK.

The donewaiting.com world domination tour begins in April.

The Weezer/Bizkit Connection

Members of Weezer and Korn to guest on upcoming Limp Bizkit record.

Fuzzy

Here’s our photo gallery of Columbus rockers Rancid Yak Butter Tea Party performing in fuzzy bunny costumes.

What else can I say?

Sum-41 Poke Fun at the Strokes, Hives, Sum-41

It seems like the kids in Sum-41 are having fun making music, doing what they do. In their newest video, “Still Waiting,” they make fun of current music trends, and even poke a bit at themselves. Watch it.

Mike Doughty Loves the Internet

Former Soul Coughing frontman tells it:
“It’s incredible that I can make more money selling 10,000, basically, CD-Rs in a paper sleeve than I did selling a million records worldwide,” Doughty says. “This is what I discovered, the big boys don’t make so much bucks as when you are just putting your s*** out on the Internet and touring in a rental car. This is a much hipper way to live. I go out on the road, I come home with a bunch of money and I start paying some rent. It’s like an adult life. It’s quite incredible when you look at it.”

I’ve said it before, and I will keep saying it: use the internet. It is your friend and your lover.

Emusic.com — WTF?

“When EMusic began, customers were thrilled by the concept of a legitimate music service and signed up in droves to download their favorite music. The company, who claims “unlimited high quality MP3’s for as low as $9.99 per month” on the front page of their website, has apparently begun booting users who download too much, without notifying customers of the change or adjusting their “unlimited” advertising pitch.” (full story)

How can you get booted for downloading too much when the site advertises “unlimited downloads”? Did you ever get kicked out of a chinese buffett for eating too much at the “all you can eat” lunch special?

Corgan and Zwan Sign to Reprise

Well, Billy Corgan has turned away from the Pumpkins’ old label, Virgin, and has signed with Reprise Records. Read about it.

Reprise, by the way, was the label that bounced Wilco onto the streets.

Polyphonic Spree @ CMJ

Chip Midnight, better known as head honcho of Swizzle-Stick, wrote up about his experiences seeing The Polyphonic Spree over in the donewaiting forum. Read it and join me in my misery of not being at the show.

Jewel Wants YOU

….if you’re a musician, that is. See, she’s got this thing called Soul City Cafe that promotes local talent and causes. But what you can also do with that site is submit a 3-song demo and if chosen, open up for Jewel on her upcoming 2003 tour.

Whether you like her or not (and I kinda do, actually), you need to commend her for helping out new talent. More bands need to do things like that.

***** YOU HEAR ME BANDS??? *****
