TMZ is reporting that ex-Warrant singer Jani Lane was found dead in a hotel room in L.A. this evening. Unfortunately, Lane’s been battling drugs and alcohol for so many years that this doesn’t come as a surprise but it’s still a shock.
Warrant was one of the first bands I ever wrote about and I had the opportunity to meet Jani many times over the years. He was always a cool guy to his fans and I’m just at a loss for words right now.

Not the news I wanted to hear first thing as I opended my eyes this morning. I was and still am a huge fan of Warrant and got the rare opportunity to meet them at a show in Danbury, CT. once. I got to fullfill one of my greatest fantasies by getting a kiss from Jani himself. He was nice enough to stand for pictures with me also and gave me an autograph. Now, it means more to me than I ever thought it would. Jani, you will be missed incredibly, your music will live on and my memories will stay close to my heart. RIP Jani, you are loved!
