Juiceboxxx is a rapper from Milwaukee. He is touring with Jeff the Brotherhood. They are playing the Basement tonight in Columbus, Ohio..
Juiceboxxx and I have a mutual friend here in Columbus so after an exchange of emails this interview commenced. We discussed his DIY energy drink that has been covered by Forbes Magazine, and Vice. We discussed Milwaukee rap. We talked about Juiceboxx’s tour with Public Enemy. People often reject my email interviews because my questions are fairly stupid. So cheers to Juiceboxx for being a good sport.

What’s the status on Thunderzone Energy Drink?
THE DRINKS WILL BE READY FOR MY UPCOMING TOUR WITH JEFF THE BROTHERHOOD!

How the fuck did you get Forbes Magazine to write about your energy drink?
MOGULS RECOGNIZE MOGULS. JUST TRYING TO KEEP IT MOVING, I’VE BEEN RAPPING SINCE I WAS 14.

You’ve been written about in Vice. You are down with the Jeff the Brotherhood. You put out a G-Side 7 inch.
Seems like you are very brandable. Any thoughts of having RedBull sponsor your energy drink?

NAH MAN RESPECT TO RED BULL FOR BEING LEGENDS OF THE GAME BUT I’M TRYING TO DO MY OWN THING. FUCK MONSTER ENERGY DRINK! THUNDER ZONE IS FOR ALL THE KIDS OUT THERE, THIS IS OUR ENERGY DRINK!

Speaking of G-Side. Is Spacecamp in Hunstville or is that just a truckstop?
I’VE MET A LOT OF PEOPLE IN HUNTSVILLE THAT WORK AT NASA.

Infinity Cat is doing the vinyl of your album. And obviously you are playing Columbus with Jeff the Brotherhood. How did you link up with those dudes?

WE MET YEARS AND YEARS AGO WHEN WE PLAYED A WAREHOUSE SHOW TOGETHER IN NASHVILLE, THEN MET AGAIN WHEN I SET UP A SHOW FOR THEM IN MILWAUKEE. THE REST IS ROCK AND ROLL HISTORY.

I was fucking around on your website. You also had some mention of Late Night Hype and Indie Rap.
Did you ever go to Scribble Jam? What’s your Midwest Indie Rap experience?

NAH I NEVER MADE IT TO SCRIBBLE JAM, I WAS REALLY YOUNG AT THE TIME BUT I WAS VERY AWARE OF HOW IMPORTANT IT WAS. I CUT MY TEETH ON A LOT OF THAT SHIT AS A FAN BUT HONESTLY WHEN IT CAME TIME TO DO MY OWN MUSIC IT WAS A BIT OF A REACTION TO WHAT I SAW AS THE CONSERVATISM OF THAT SCENE.

What’s going on in Milwaukee rap these days?

CHRISTREATER AND KID MILLIONS DO AN AMAZING LABEL CALLED DOPE FOLKS AND A GREAT PARTY CALLED UPTOWN SATURDAY NIGHT. CHECK OUT DOPE FOLKS FOR REAL, THE KILLED BY DEATH OF RANDOM RAP. http://dopefolksrecords.com/

Whatever happened to Coo Coo Cal?
I THINK HE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE GAME FOR A LONG TIME NOW, WAS TRYING TO TRACK HIM DOWN A LIL’ WHILE AGO, HOPEFULLY WE CAN DO A TRACK TOGETHER SOMEDAY.

I read somewhere that Milwaukee is the only city that has 5 Percenters that allow white people to be Gods. Have you ever considered becoming God?
I’M JUST TRYING TO BE A MAN.

Do other rappers ever get mad at you?
MANY PEOPLE GET MAD AT ME, RAPPERS INCLUDED.

What’s your favorite song on “Black Vagina Finda”?
I THOUGHT THAT WAS A SONG?

Should I ever use the word Juicebox to describe the vagina?
I WOULD ADVISE AGAINST IT, ALTHOUGH TWITTER WOULD SAY OTHERWISE.

You toured Canada with P.E./ What’s it like to chill with Chuck D?
Was Flavor Flav there?

CHUCK AND THE WHOLE P.E. CREW WERE BEYOND NICE TO ME, IT WAS A REALLY REALLY POSITIVE AND AMAZING EXPERIENCE. FLAV WAS THERE ALTHOUGH HE WAS THE ONE MEMBER OF THE SQUAD I DIDN’T REALLY GET TO TALK TO MUCH.

Why do you think Chuck D call you “the Buddy Holly of Hip Hop”?

I THINK IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE GLASSES.

What’s your favorite song on Jeff the Brotherhood’s “Hypnotic Nights”?

“LEAVE ME OUT”. THAT SONG SHOULD BE ON EVERY ALT-ROCK RADIO STATION IN THE COUNTRY IN 1996. AND NOW 2012.

What’s Jeff the Brotherhood’s favorite song on your new album?

I WOULD GUESS IT IS A TRACK CALLED “PUMP IT” THAT WILL PROBABLY BE A SINGLE AT SOME POINT.

How do you approach performance?

100 PERCENT ALWAYS, AS MIKE WOULD SAY ON BREAKING BAD – “NO HALF MEASURES”
